They have just told her on the phone that they send out standard letters to everyone about this, is that not a total waste of time and money ??
I've lost count of the number of letters we've had from Student Finance. I've been sent two ART IDs (and separately two passwords); DH has an ART ID and separate password, DS2 has had two letters telling him how much he's going to get; DH and I have each had one letter saying DS2 will be told how much he's getting and we might have to give him some money (but they won't tell US how much that might be); DH and I have each had another letter saying "You're responsible for DS1, here's the forms for declaring your income"; DS1 has had just the one letter, I think, saying they'll send him a letter for him to sign and send back to them.

the only good thing is that going to see Student Finance at the local council actually seems to work! They've been very helpful. Would now definitely make a personal visit rather than try phoning!

DS starts in Sept (just found out today :)).

His loan schedule is for 3 payments, Sept, Jan and April. His tuition fees 2 payments Feb and May. Is that right?

Yes that will be correct, the maintenance payments will be set up to fit with the start of each term. The tuition fee loan dates are agreed with the university so there is no need to worry as they know the money will be coming through then.

I've logged in to Student Finance Direct, and under View Payments it says "No payments were found for you."
Is this bad/wrong? Or am I not looking in the right place?

If thats the case can you let us all know - never heard of that one and would think it is highly unlikley.

DS just going into 2nd year and received his payment schedule yesterday.
  • I still have no schedule and i sent it off ages ago, i keep ringing them and they keep saying they are calculating it, and then when i ring again they say they need more documentation to support my application!!

I start in 5 weeks, what happens if i dont get the schedule, do i gt my payment later on in the year??

The schedule isn't the most important one, its mainly for your refererence although it does say on it to show it to your university. Your notification letter which gives total amounts rather than installments can be used as well, they both have the same barcode on which is what the uni needs. So if you have your notification but not the payment schedule yet you will be able to use that.
