Anyone Heard From Student Finance

Our LEA has a service where you go in and they check all your forms,p/copy everything they need like passports,get you to sign etc so at least you know it is all in order. We did that back in June,we have had regular updates of what's happening and she has now recieved notification of how much and that it is ready.Her Uni course doesn't start intil 22nd Spetember.

I've had everything except the payment schedule which I'm not expecting until the start of September anyway. Although it looks like they are sending them earlier this year if some people already have them, probably to prevent them having another disaster with them like last year.

Well i rang up and apparently someone forgot to mark that they had recieved my documentation so that is why there has been a hold up with my progress, they now say that i should hear back from them within 2 weeks.

Id definatly recommend ringing up Student Finance, just to double check and put your mind at rest. Really glad i rung up today

i rang them earlier after receiving numerous emails telling me i havent given my and my parents evidence, even though we have! they have had loads of computer errors, including sending me immigration status documents, even though im NOT an immigrant!

They now say they will get back to me in TWO weeks!! GRRR

So many students at my uni had problems with registration last year because they had no payment schedule or the wrong one. I hope it's better this year!

Me too - getting the emails, I mean.. It's doing my head in, worrying me silly.

My daughter is having real problems with Student Finance, I don't think I have come across a more useless dept as this. They have written to see her passport although they have had a copy of this in June. They have just told her on the phone that they send out standard letters to everyone about this, is that not a total waste of time and money ?? They insist that she wants a maintenance loan although she has not applied for one. She is still waiting to hear about an assessment of needs. The whole process is a nightmare and has been going on since April. She is now getting very stressed because she doesn't believe it will be sorted out before she goes to Uni. Everytime she rings them they never seem to know what they are talking about.

I have just phoned them up, I have been awarded the grant but not the bursary. Grrrrr

I was awarded the bursary last year and my situation has not altered this year....dim wits!!!!!

They now have an email marked URGENT to deal with asap and many phone calls coming their way!!

Bursary is done seperately isn't it? I'm entitled to a Bursary and Schollarship from my Uni as I got it last year and met the criteria to get it again this year. I wasn't expecting a letter until Sept/Oct about it though as thats when I heard last year. This was after all the loans and grants info.

They have a lot of computer problems which causes these letters and emails to be sent out as its all done automatically. They don't seem to have anyone with the technical knoweldge to fix the problems though as they happen every year.
