    A bit?!

Hi everyone, I've been lurking around here for years and have posted maybe twice (partly because I know once I start posting, I won't stop...;))...but have decided to take the plunge.

I've been self-employed as a counsellor for the last year, which means work comes and goes; previously I was a SAHM. OH is a teacher and we have two boys, 11 and 7. Even with hanging around here, we were living well beyond our means for a long time, until the Xmas hols 2006 when we finally saw the light, shifted all CC debts to mortgage, stopped spending on anything non-essential (except wine :rotfl:) and are now throwing all we can spare at the mortgage. This board helps me to do everything I can so that our boys can have be safe, warm and healthy, and it reminds me too of how lucky I am...so thanks to you all for that.

    BB

Oops, I see I've posted 11 times actually...
  • Hi i've just joined after lurking for a few months.:hello:

I'm a stay at home mum of 2 girls 9 & 4, and happily married. We have had money problems in the past but we have paid off all our debts & are just waiting for them to come off the credit file.

We have been looking at ways of cutting down our bills & our spending for the last year, and we are a lot better than we used to be. Our food bills have halved, and we are swapping utilities where we can to save money. We only have one CC left for emergencies, and we have cut right back on birthdays & Xmas.

I look forward to picking up some more tips, thank you all for your inspiring threads so far :D

Married with 3 kids to the most sexiest woman i've ever known, and as you will no doubt find out i'm married to Disdisbiff another member of the boards that doesn't post much (cause she's shy)but is here religiously every day. • Hi everyone ,
I am a childminder , divorced with four grown up kids of my own and two grandchildren. I am addicted to this website and always looking for ways to save money as I am trying to pay off a mortgage on my own.
Finding life really hard at the moment as childminding has gone very quiet, so bad I have tied a sign about my vacancies on my front gate.
  • Hello

I've made a few posts, spend far too much time browsing on here. I guess it's about time I introduced myself.
I am a midwife, work part time at the local hospital. Would like to do more hours but find my depression reoccurs when I get over tired so can't.
I have DH and three big teenage boys, we seem to get through mountains of food every week. For various reasons I've been using lots of convenience food over the years and would like to cut back and start cooking healthily and also saving money and losing weight !!
Two of the boys will be going off to Uni over the next two years and I'm keen to save as much as possible so I can help them out.
Also once they have gone my maintenance from XH stops and we have to get used to managing on a lot less money :(
I was brought up OS and it used to come naturally, I seem to have so little energy these days though! Hope I can find some nice easy recipes.

looking forward to reading and chatting

  • Hi Everyone,

I've been lurking here and picking up tips for months now, but I've never plucked up the courage to post.

My husband and I work full time in IT and have two girls (13 & 9) and many pets.

I find that if I don't plan well with our food it all goes to pot!
