  • Hello,
I'm Kitti - I have been an lurker on the site for 3 years and in that time the information and advice on here has completely turned my life around - I log onto this forum every day and benefit from all of the fantastic information. I am very shy so have not formally joined the forum until today when I felt compelled to join to show my support for Martin due to the horrible comments he is getting from users in other areas of the forum.
I am 30 years old and prior to finding this site could not cook to save my life now I am able to turn my hand to any recipe and enjoy feeding my family good wholesome food that literally costs hardly anything to make. In fact I am off now to my kitchen to whip up a chocolate cake and Eves pudding using apples from my mums garden. Yummy!
  • Hey everyone, another newbie here who has been following these forums for a few months since I moved with my boyfriend (we're both aged 23) somewhere new and scary :p All the advice and info is just amazing and it's really helped us in saving money since we've been on our own! Got some student debts to pay off, currently not working but the other half is, so getting used to stretching his money as far as we can  Hoping to join in the next grocery challenge to keep track of what i'm spending on food, and also the Flylady thread, really need some motivation to get the housework done :o

  • Hello all,
Another newbie who has been lurking for many months!

I stopped working last year when, after changes at work it worked out cheaper for me to be at home than to stay working. Hubby supports us both now and it is working so far. I've been growing veggies and doing loads of good ol' home cooking/baking which is something we both missed due to having very little time at home before. One of my daughters has just moved back home after having to give up the house she was renting. We have two dogs and two new little kittens.
Currently trying to save for a new freezer for all the home made goodies, really wish I hadn't given my big one away when the girls left home!

I spend way too much time on here trying to find more ways to save and I'd like to Thank everyone for their brilliant idea's and info :T Hopefully I'll be able to contribute now I'm done with just lurking !

    Hi all,
We are a double act - Happily married since 1975. I returned to education and was very proud to gain my degree at 40. I landed a wonderfull post as head of department in a social welfare occupation, which I absolutely loved. But it all came crashing down...

In severe pain I went for a MRI scan. I was told I needed a series of operations. Ten operationss and a lot of tears later, I was told that nothing can be done to help me and that my problem will worsen over time. I am now severly disabled in a wheelchair and dependent upon my OH for a lot of help. It broke my heart when I had to give up my wonderful new career and OH had to recently retire early to care for me.

Because we are now mainly housebound through immobility and lack of money to spend on days out, we are trying to keep busy, healthy and make the house and garden as nice possible to spend time in.

I am also Diabetic so this year I am attempting to lose a lot of weight with OS recipes.

MSE and OS have lifted us from our depression, saved us a fortune and greatly helps us to enjoy life once again.

    Love to all
