Hi there. I've been a big fan of this sight for a few years now but finally decided over the weekend that it was time to sort out my life and pay off debts.
I am married with 2 children. We have quite a big mortgage and have had a tendancy to spend beyond our means in the past!
I love all the old style tips on this board. Since I have been reading it I have bought a breadmaker, been making meals out of the stuff left in my cupboards and freezer. I never throw away left overs any more and I have fished my slow cooker out of the back of the cupboard.
You all seem so nice and friendly and I look forward to receiving loads more advice.:)Do more of what makes you happy:)0 -
Hi I am a stay at home mum to my two children, one girl and one boy, aged 7 and very nearly 4, I'm happily married to my wonderful DH and I work part time at Tesco (on a Sunday so no childcare to pay for!) to try and earn a few extra pennies. I've read this site for ages, but only recently got the courage to post! Hope to get to "meet" you all soonBeen comping since January '08. Wins so far....NOTHING!:rotfl:*UPDATE* June - won a Bratz doll for my little girl0

Hi, I too have lurked for ages but decided this year was time to reduce wastage, cut back spending and clear my debts.
I am Gail a stay at home mom /carer to my autistic son 13 and my 5 other kids,my 8 yr old DS has ADHD too
I am divorced from their dad but happily remarried to pete who cares for his disabled parents & elderly aunt full time, so not a lot of cash to spare and not much time really
This forum is an inspiration though and we have gone back to basics - ditched the ready meals, making my own bread/buns/pizzas etc.
Keep it coming - love the tips and the recipes
Got to say I prefer to bake in my oven rather than a breadmaker - I freecycled mine as I didn't take to itNo big food shop for 3 weeks - total spent £27.25
hoping to keep it under £75 for 7 of us and 5 cats 1 dog for 3 weeks0 -
Hello, I'm 22 and live in York with my boyfriend and our housemate. I work full-time in admin as a temp at Network Rail. Having graduated last June from Leeds Uni I'm trying to save money to pay off student overdraft and put some money aside so that in a couple of years I can afford to study for an MSc, and one day put down a deposit on a house. My mum always did lots of cooking at home so it seems natural to make most things from scratch and that's how I lived as a student, so I'm carrying than on now (although often there doesn't seem enough hours in the day!).
I've posted a little bit in here in the past couple of weeks after being introduced by a colleague to the world of MSE.0 -

Hi there, long time (ish) lurker in OS, normally to be found in the DFW board, but i think i have old school tendencies and would love it if you would have me here too!?
I love the hints tips and advice here and the fact that with your advice someone like me gets to feel like a domestic goddess from time to time!!!!
Not sure i would have much advice to give out but i'm soaking it all up like a sponge!!! lolI'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -
Hello all, insomniac 60 y/o grumpy old woman here. I took early retirement after 15 years in supported housing management, then spent the following 3 years with young homeless with substance abuse issues. From one end of the scale to the other, and loved all of it. Now I do vol work manning the phone at night for a national org.
I spend my time on my addictions - caring for my 11 y/o granddaughter on alternate weekends, trying to make a garden from the mud patch I inherited from the previous owner, spoiling my furball excuse for a dog and 2 delinquent cats, making a little extra with cashback and survey sites, and the most time consuming addiction of them all, MSE'ing :T
Thank you everybody for all the invaluable help and advice given over a variety of subjects on the boards :A0 -
Hi there, another lurker who has finally decided to sort her debts out! I work full time as a conference and event organiser and live with my OH, 2 dogs, rabbit and fish. OH is at mo unemployed which has caused a bit of a struggle with the bills and an increase in debt so i am trying my best to learn all your tricks and pay off my credit cards/ loans as soon as i possibly can
I have recently aquired an allotment so i can start growing my own vegetables and will keep me busy and stop me wantin to go shopping or down the pub!
i think this site and the people on it are really inspirational and thank you all for how much i have learnt from you - long may it continue.

Hello - yet another long-ish term lurker! Have wanted to start posting on these boards then I just couldn't find an opportunity to do it. Will keep trying...!
I am a mum of 2, work part time and am interested in cooking well and healthily while saving pennies. I hate the idea of waste esp food.
This site is great - I have learned loads already.... thanks all0
