Been here for a little while now and im loving this site!
My name is Becky,Im 24, I have been married now for nearly 2 years and mum to 11 month old baby girl called Emily Rose. I worked in accounts, marketing and admin before giving up to be a full time mummy until my daughter goes to school but im planning to go to college part time at the end of this year. Also im going to look into child minding this year if we manage to get our house renovations finished. I have been trying to find ways to cut back and save money since giving up work when I found this site0 -
Hi
I'm Sophie and decided to join up after a friend recommended this site.
I'm 30 years old, work in Marketing and live in London with my lovely boyfriend who is a Corgi registered Gas Man. We're hopefully moving into our first home together within the next few months, so I need all the help I can get in order to save money and pay the mortgage!

Hiya,
I'm Janine, 26 and a single SAHM to 2 little tykes - Deacon 2 and Luca 5.
Found this site a few days ago while hunting for something else and glad I stumbled onto it now. Having been plunged into the depths of benefit living over the summer we're having to make some adjustments!!
An avid cook, there isn't a recipe I dont know or know where to find.0 -

Hi there,
I've been lurking probably on and off for about 3 months and decided it was time to join you all. I live in France and I only came across this site quite by chance when I was looking for how to make yoghurt and bingo, there you all were!
I've got one year and one day to go before I hit 40 and I'm a SAHM to 3 boys aged 5.5, 4, 2.5. I hope to stay at home for as long as I can, so I am reducing our spending at the moment and on of the best tips I've picked up here is to meal plan each week.
My husband works full time here and we live in a flat in the middle of Nice. We've got a balcony for the boys to play on, dry washing, etc. but I'm planning on buying some balcony boxes to grow some rocket and herbs, thanks for the tip on the "Grow your own veg" programme!
I'm interested in money-saving, but being green as well, so what I save by making my own cakes, bread, etc., I spend on organic food. I try not to buy any processed food at all (although hubbh prefers B*rds custard powder mix to real custard!), we don't drink fizzy stuff and I even ask for the medecines with sugar in rather than the sweeteners! We use soapnuts for laundry and I've just bought a "mousser" to turn the soapnut juice into a mousse that the boys love washing their hands in. I'm hoping to start making my own shampoo and soap when I get time. I'm a big fan of vinegar and bicarb now too thanks to all of you!
Most women here in France do return to work after having children because wages are generally low, but I do know a few French women who stay at home like me. But they think I am a bit strange for making yoghurt, hand-making bread, growing alfalfa, but they all love coming round to eat my home made cakes!
So, thanks for all the tips, hope I can be useful to you too!0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm another lurker and thought it was about time that I started joining in.
Me - 40, work full time in local government, have 2 teenage sons (how ever do you get them to think moneysaving?) and one cat. Can't help being canny and find being frugal a challenge, love cooking and menu planning. Love to beat the "consumer systems" out there, and have found this website a great help for that.
Feel at home in the old style board - why throw money at something when a little imagination and enterprise can do it instead.0 -
Hi all, been posting mainly on Debt Free Wannabe for a while now, but bought Martin's old style book recently so thought I'd take a look over here. I'm technically a civil servant but actually work 100% at present for my trade union. I have 2 daughters who have both left home now, so it's just me and the cat, Moxie! I'm off work at the moment as 2 years ago I got MRSA while in hospital and it's come back! Having lots of tests and feeling rather groggy. But I love this website and am looking forward to lots of great info from this board.Total debt May 2005 £83,232
Total Debt November 2009 £0! DEBT FREE!
Proud to have dealt with my debts

Hello/ Bonjour and welcome! Do you know the French Entree site? Also has lots of useful info: http://www.frenchentree.com/fe-downshifting/ Do you speak French? I am trying to learn but it's a huge struggle - I think your kids will be very grateful that they learnt at an early age rather than trying to learn from scratch as an adult."The happiest of people don't necessarily have the
best of everything; they just make the best
of everything that comes along their way."
