Hi, thought I'd post my intro since I've been hanging around posting here for a week or so now.

My name is Sarah. I live in central Scotland with my partner and 3 children. They are 5, 4 and just turned 2.

We are currently massively in debt and have decided to try and pay it all back as soon as we can.

I think OS is right up my street, as I am a bit of a weird hippy anyway. I'm attempting to try and be self sufficient in fruit and veg this year. Most of my garden has been given over to growing stuff. BUT..... I've never done any gardening before!

I try to reuse and recycle where I can. And just generally save money on things. I like cooking and baking, sewing and other crafts. I'm also in my first year of home educating my daughter.

Look forward to chatting with you all and getting some more money saving tips.
  • Hello everybody.

I have been a lurker for a while but have only recently registered. So, I decided to bite the bullet and introduce myself.

I am a 52 year old married lady with 3 children, all of whom have flown the nest. I live with my lovely husband of 31 years. I am a care worker in a home for the elderly, which I adore - the residents are so lovely (well, usually... LOL) and have some fascinating tales to tell. My husband is a long distance lorry driver. He usually makes runs to France and Spain, so have a lovely wine cellar (well, it's a cupboard really)

I love the whole OS ethos. I have always cooked from scratch and have rarely bought anything 'convenience'. I much prefer the taste of real food. I love gardening, but unfortunately have such a small garden here that it doesn't lend itself to a veggie plot and I do like a little space for sitting outside in. I am on the waiting list for an allotment - that would be sheer heaven.

Other than that, I like reading and needlecrafts and the occasional evening out with my friends. I don't have any grandchildren yet, so am not called upon for baby-sitting duties. I am sure this will happen soon enough though. LOL

I am looking forward to 'meeting' you all in the coming weeks, I think I shall be at home here.

This mammoth thread is now a year old :j it's been really great reading EVERY ONE of these posts, we are a very varied and interesting bunch and it's so nice to see a little snapshot of everyones life.

I'd like to update my post but other than the fact that I'm a year older nothing fundamental has changed other than the whole MSE site has given me so much - genuinely - and I'd be a poorer person, in both senses of the word if I hadn't found it

Well I've been a member for a few years now but am sorry to say I haven't posted anything on this thread about me so as it is a year old I thought I should! ;)

I've been married for 32yrs this year & have three sons all in their 20's and a lovely dog (female;) ):D .

I love this site especially the Grabbit It Now thread and OS plus anything else that saves money and helps you! I find the ebay people have lots of good ideas and like AT (with his amazon help) they are more than willing to share the knowledge they've gained with you to help get the best out of the sites.

What a money saver the Phones thread for home/mobile/international is! I always use the international callchecker before ringing abroad - just to check I'm still using the cheapest provider. I'm often given the task of finding the cheapest way to make a call to here, there and everywhere:p by various members of family and friends of friends. Naturally I come up with the answers and then make sure they know about this site. :):)

I've got my stardrops and microfibre cloths. I've introduced these to several friends who are now converts and also introduced several family members and friends to this MSE site.

I'm off now to have a look and see what's lurking around. Have fun and enjoy:D

    Hi everyone.

I've only just found this part of the board, but now I'm hooked! So many good tips and hints.

I'm 31, and a single mum to 2 kids. I'm a SAHM at the moment but am hoping to go back to college in September, I say hopeing because a lot depends on my son's health, he constantly gets ear infections/ perforated ear drum and tonsillitis. He's under the hospital now so hopefully they will be able to do something to help him and stop him getting ill all the time.

Being on benefits means, like everyone else in my situation, I am always looking for ways to save a few pennies and the tips I've found on os will help me do that....as long as I stick to them lol

Anyway just thought I would introduce myself over here :)

Hi - decided to add myself to the list.

Found out about MSE 10 months ago via hubby. This is my favourite forum cos we love to cut costs and see what we can get for as little as possible! Also like discussion forum (if it's not too risque!).

We've been married 28 yrs and have 2 dd - one who still lives with us. I work full time, hubby has own business and works when he can.

Don't have much of a garden/or time to work in it unfortunately
