Hi all
Im 28 years old female, I bought a 2bed ground floor flat in inner london a couple of years ago, with the idea of fostering. Anyway, thats by the wayside at the moment, due to meeting my other half. Hes 27, lives with me.
I work for social services sorting out homecare and meals on wheels, it pays OK, but I need more. OH is temping for government at the moment.
Ive got couple of credit cards ( moved to 0%), a loan to my folks, student loan co( only 9 more months left!!! oh hang on as of today, its 8! ) plus the mortgage and rent.
I love the site and found it through seeing Martin on telly- a man after my own heart. Ive always been a bit on the skinflint side, but money has been frittered over the years and we need to find the money for a wedding, kids and the new life abroad, althoughjust paying the bills is a struggle at the moment! Currently ebaying everything i can lay my hands on!
One other thing- I can be pretty straight talking ( alvin hall style) so dont be offended if I somtimes sound a bit harsh!! Lovely to meet you all xx:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Hello all
I am 29 and am at present working full-time as a resettlement worker, helping ex-homeless folks to keep their new tenancies. But I am planning to have a baby later on this year so am saving like mad so I can become a stay at home mum. OH is a self employed arts worker/artist so money is often in short supply.
I am already pretty OS but I need to get better!0 -

We have taken a First Plus to clear our debts but now the challenge is that I have lost one day's pay and have to pay childcare so have lost one quarter of our joint income........There are times when parenthood seems nothing but feeding the mouth that bites you Peter De VriesDebt free by 40 (27/11/2016)0

Hello Everyone
I've been a lurker and occasional poster for a while but after taking a look at the state of my accounts last week I have decided to embrace the oldstyle way of living.
Reading these threads had made me embarrassed about my way of living, I previously spent ridiculous amounts of money on nothing. I would happily spend £100 per week on bags of pre chopped carrots in the supermarket then I would be too lazy to actually cook them and get a takeaway! The amount I have wasted is awful.
Hopefully with a bit of help I can change my ways and not be so wasteful. My main areas are my food bills - I have started cooking and taking a packed munch to work. I am now going to work on reducing my clothing costs, phone bills and other things that I spend too much on.
Thankfully there seems to be loads of good info on here and I hope I can make a few friends in the process of saving some cash!
Happy moneysaving!

Guys I have to say I'm so glad I found this board! This is exactly my type of thing, I've been accused of "making food stretch to near biblical proportions" lol
I'm a 27 YO semi professional on a reasonably comfortable wage but I've been brought up not to waste money by a grandmother who didn't have it as easy. I have a feeling I'll be spending a lot of time here.My Doctor told me that "1 out of 3 people who start smoking will eventually die." The other two apparently became immortal.
