Hi, am another long time lurker-had a log-in ages ago but can't for the life of me remember it. I'm 36 and a new stay at home mum, my son is just over 6 months old. I used to be a well paid sales rep. We've around 5k debt that we're chipping away at, brought downn from 12k 4 years ago. Hubby is now the only on bringing in a wage and my maternity alowance has just ended so we're really having to tighten our belts. I love to cook from scratch and want to do more but it's been difficult with a new baby. However, we're now at the weaning stage so no excuses not to cook delicious food! Keen gardener and have room for a veg plot so will be trying that this year. Am excited about embracing a more frugal lifestyle and trying out some of the recipies I keep seeing around.
Look forward to getting to know you all0 -

Hi - my name is Kate & although I have ben a 'Moneysaver' for some time I am new to OS moneysaving. I happened in here by chance yesterday & have picked up so much already!!
I am unfortunately recently single & have a 3 yr old son - I work 3 days a week, but money still tight. Since being on my own I have fallen out of the habit of cooking properly & I want my son to move on a little from 'kiddie' food & experiment more as he will be getting school dinners from September & is suspicious of anything new (although is a good eater & loves his fruit & veg).
Unfortunatly I lost my Mum 18 years ago, so do not have anyone to come to for advice on OS matters hence arriving here! She was amazing & cooked everything from scratch on a tight budget. I remember her even making the royal icing & marzipan from scratch for the Christmas cake every year!
I am going to pick up my new slow cooker today - so expect to see some dumb posts on the SC threads soon x0 -
Bit late/early but I have been on this site for hours as there is so much good stuff to read and tho I have been a member of MSE for a while thought it was about time to introduce myself to the Old Stylers as this is where i set my homepage to and read everyday
:D
Im Steph im 28yrs old I have a 10yr old daughter and we live in Bedfordshire. I am a single parent and have a vestibular imbalance which basically means I feel like ive been spinning around when I havent! lol.
I won't go on but thought by introducing myself I could maybe make more friends on here, maybe chat to people local to me who can share local money saving ideas, or someone further away who has a child the same age as mine or suffers with the same disability I have who would like someone to chat to?
Anyway i've gone on long enough, sorry to bore you!
Cheers
Steph x
Oh P.S. My 10yr old is into moneysaving and has started to sew little lavender bags and has been asking (hounding) family members/friends/neighbours to buy them off her for 30p-50p...I love my little moneysaver/maker!
She is also very much wanting to find a penpal/cyber pal to chat to.Recently moved to South Wales

Hello,
I'm Tam 41 married orig. from NY been in UK for 10 years. Both my husband and I are self-employed. I run a website and my husband is a window cleaner. Thank goodness for the sun at the moment :-)
We're looking into adoption next year and before starting the process we want to make a lifestyle overhaul. Get out of debt, get healthy, save money.
Have been a lurker for quite some time but would like to quit lurking and get involved as well as get and be supportive.____________________________________________

My name's Melissa, and I joined because I'd like to save up money for a car (I'm learning to drive) but have never been very good with saving money. I currently work part-time in IT (not full time due to (mental) health reasons) so I don't have as much money coming in as I used to. I have my student loan which I've never earnt enough to pay back, it's about £12000 at the moment. Other than that I'm usually always a few hundred overdrawn, and would really like to live differently. I'm still living with my parents and would love to move out but will never afford it if I carry on living like I do!
My favourite section to browse is the OS section, I love cooking and making things and sewing.0
