Hello, I generally wander about the DFW forum, zapping trolls, talking nonsense and quite often manage to sneak in some debt-busting too!
I thought I'd be brave and have a nose on OS today as I really need to sort out my meal planning, both for my health (I tend to under eat, which can mean I get depressed at times and obviously messes up my energy levels!) and my pocket! I wrote down everything in my cupboards and popped over here for some inspiration but have been so caught up in reading lots that I haven't done anything with my list yet.
I am a genius in the art of procrastination.

Hello there, thought it about time I formally introduce myself!
I'm 25, work full-time as a lab technician, in relatively new relationship (just gone 6 months at this point) so please do smack me if I start getting all sickening and gooey! Just now I'm lodging which grates a little at times due to my chronic need of more freezer space and desire for kitchen equipment that I have nowhere to put, as well as my fancy for decorating and DIY... Trying ferociously to save for a deposit even though I couldn't afford the size of mortgage I'd need. I only want a nice little nest all of my own, is that really too much to ask?
ANYHOO, discovered Old Style boards while browsing and just instantly thought "That's me, these things they are talking about are what I do, what I want".0 -
I too thought I would formally introduce myself. I have posted on OS before.. mainly asking questions on how to recify my failed recipes.
I am 36 live with my partner of 5 years in Warsaw, I currently teach English part-time and study with the OU as well as keep house. As I can't earn to the extent of what I did in the UK I like to make it my responsibility to make the OH salary go as far as possible re around the house, cooking and cleaning. AND I LOVE IT!
However, I do find I spend ages on here and not actually get anything done!"People buy things they don't need, with money they don't have, to impress people they don't like" - Clive Hamilton on Consumerism.0 -

Hi everyone i just thought i would pop on here and say hello. I have been going through a rough time with my BF (well was fiance) and he is moving out today. My name is the only one on the mortgage as his credit rating is really bad which means that he walks away scot free and leaves me with a house i can ill afford!!
I have signed up for a water meter, cancelled sky, got single persons allowance on my council tax but wondering how else i save money? I guess i can eat pretty cheaply (pasta and sauce etc).
Sorry just needed to come on here and have a rant that not only am i single but he has eft me royally in the s***.
Sorry everyone. Hope despite my problems that there is room for me on this board?

Hi everyone, thought it was about time I stopped lurking and said hi!
I live in Ireland with DH (who is originally from Lancashire), our two school-going children, a cat and two hens.
I'm a SAHM who also childminds 1 toddler and I do a couple of other bits on the side to bring in revenue - shop & scan, paid surveys etc. DH works fulltime although he has been on a 4 day week for over a year now but thankfully we are able to claim for the day's wage. He works in IT which means he gets odd jobs from time to time which has really helped in tough times.
Our situation has actually improved in the last year, but we have built up some debts that we're chipping away at.
I have been lurking the OS board for a good while now because I just think it's a sensible way to live regardless of our income. I love finding a new use for things, shopping in second-hand shops and giving/receiving free stuff! I aspire to be crafty in the face of a total lack of ability :rotfl: and do my best to cook from scratch. (I have to admit I recently inherited a breadmaker and it hasn't been used once, must do better.)
I also want to get into better financial habits now to help cushion us in later life and to make sure we can help DS & DD when they reach third level education.
Look forward to chatting more

Thought I would introduce myself and say hello to everyone :T
I am 36 years old and a single mum to two girls aged 4 and 2. Before becoming a full time mum I worked in admin for 13 years.
I am a cat lover and have 2 cats who are living with my ex-husband.
Looking forward to getting lots of tips on the old style moneysaving board as I need to cut costs where possible.

Unemployed here, due to ill health. Gosh! I'm impressed with the very low shopping bills that some of you guys are posting....seems I need to learn a few more tricks from you folks. :T When you're talking of shopping bills, are you talking just food or toiletries, cleaning etc etc?
Re-claiming a neglected garden when I'm able. :j Determined not to spend money on it apart from a few seeds. Courgettes and Toms this year. Got plenty recipes from my Self Sufficiency small holder days if anyone wants help with preserving veg, fruit etc. No pets, can't afford them.
Finding these forums very interesting.0
