Have lurked here for a while - many of the threads are quite addictive. I am 54, divorced and lucky to have good job at moment, but am always looking to save money so I can indulge in a few "unnecessities" of life - in my case books, theatre, garden - and like to have the occasional, planned splurge on self or children/grandchildren. Also need to look at pension requirements as I had long gap at home with children, and hope to move next year. Over the years my kids got used to "Mum's economy drives", and both have grown up to be sensible with cash. However since living on my own I have got a bit lazy about cooking etc., but recently worked out how much I could pay off my mortgage if I stopped buying sandwiches/meals at work so have been trying to get back into doing my own.0

ok, here goes...
i'm 31, mum to a nearly 9 yr old boy (who are am totally responsible for as his father walked out on me when i found out i was pregnant), have a b/f, live in a little terraced cottage 2 mins walk from the beach that i bought @ 3 years ago, and i have 6 cats (mostly rescue) who i adore as much as my son and a tankful of fish. I was laid off work a month ago and have just managed to get a temp job (admin) to see me through to the other side of xmas so my stress levels are back to normal for the time being, lol.
i have been living OS style all my life (just didn't realise it) and i guess it is just part of who i am. 4 years ago i was homeless, jobless and utterly skint and in debt (not my fault sadly, just paying the price for someone else's problems) BUT... i now own my own home (2 bed terrace cottage isn't fancy but its cosy and mine), work full time and am totally independant.
i love any arts/ crafts - sewing, crocheting, drawing, restoring antiques - and when i'm not working or spending quality time at home i can be found out playing on my sportsbike (i try to stay carbon neatral at home to balance out the petrol footprint?!) or walking. I love ALL animals (apart from jellyfish, which give me the heebie-jeebies *shudder*)
i struggle with the cooking and housework thing (it gets done when it has to) but i am really trying to learn how to cook proper HM meals from scratch but i love baking bread and cakes... and i am allergic to ironing!

Hello
I am 41, divorced, living with partner, have 2 kids aged 10 & 8 (one of which has type one diabetes and Coeliac disease) plus partners kids are here half the week aged 17 & 15. I work part time as a teaching assistant with autistic children and currently doing my NVQ3.
I like cooking and baking but sometimes get a bit stressed with it and everything always seems to take me far longer to make than what it states on the recipe for some reason! Not too keen on house work but unlike you Blackcrow, I don't mind ironing too much but again that takes me ages!
I have only just started posting but mainly just like lurking! It's really helped me reduce my monthly food bill and also come up with ideas etc for meals & baking. Wish that schools taught cooking a bit more - all my DD ever seems to cook is fairy cakes and flapjacks etc.

Hello all!
After lurking for quite some time, today I finally decided to make the leap and start actively posting on here.
So, a little about me: I'm a primary teacher in my early 20's and living with my OH; I'm currently looking for a job thanks to relocating 'up north' recently, so I've had many hours to nosey through the threads on here! We're in the process of buying our first home together and am keen to save a pretty penny where I can, hence why I've been lurking on the OS board for quite some time. I can literally spend hours on here finding ways to do things 'OS', which make so much sense to me!
I love cooking and baking and have loved reading through threads on here to get recipe ideas, as I feel nothing can beat having something HM! I'm also a rather creative person, and am attempting to made my own Christmas cards from scratch this year. I'm worried I'm too much of a perfectionist to send them out when they're finished!
What else... Oh, like anyone, I love finding a good bargain.
