Hi to everyone.

Not working at the moment due to health problems.
Have just started to post within the last 4 weeks or so, and have become addicted to the os forum. I just love reading everyones chatty posts.:T

Hi Everyone
I am a full time Deputy Manager for a Drug and Alcohol Agency working with adult substance users, I am getting married 6 weeks today to my fabulous OH.:j:j:j
We dont have children but do have a slightly neurotic but very loved tabby cat called rufus, as well as 3 very fat rats, and the oldest fish in the world.
I am rather going through a reformation from being a junk food, easy fix lifestyler to a lifestyle that fits more with my beliefs - I bang on about wastage when charities like mine are struggling, but dont practise what I preach - well I do now - ish lol
I am trying to join in the great declutter but am fighting a losing battle with OH's torch, camping equipment and generaal detritus obsession
Oh and Im 30
gotta say this part of the forum has really been a huge inspiration to me - and everyone is so lovely

Welcome Euripidesralph and Bunny too - I'm sure you'll like it here. This place has been an inspiration to me too. I particularly like the mealplans and am going to be taking part in the Grocery Challenge next month. I can't remember if I introduced myself either - I'm 30 and live with my new husband in the East Midlands. I work as a clerk and have been trying to improve both our diets and the amount of money saved so we have enough for a decent deposit for a house together.
Welcome though

Elfen - there are 2 knitters threads here on the OS board, one is called 'the knitters thread' and the other is 'knit your square to give your share'. They both have tips on where there is cheap wool for sale, pop over and say hello!

I am a 24 year old recent graduate living with my boyfriend. He is currently unemployed receiving JSA and I am in a temp job working on an employment helpline. We moved into a new place at the end of May which needs lots of renovations which are coming along slowly as we seem to fix one problem we discover another. We have an oven but no hob (as its broke) the microwave also decided to give up the ghost the other day. Thank goodness for the steamer and slow cooker!
I started posting on here whilst at university as I was a skint student trying to feed myself and my vegetarian boyfriend and I had no idea how to cook on a budget!
No kids (thank god) just 1 house cat. I want to eventually got back to uni to do an MA in social work.0 -
Hi Everyone,
I'm Jen, and I'm 26. I've been lurking here for ages but have decided to try and get 'stuck into' some challenges. I've recently become a mum to a gorgeous boy, Ethan is now 4 months old and brilliant! Loving every minute but it's a shock to the system. I'm currently on maternity leave from school where I'm a Teaching Assistant - I'm due to go back in January (:( ) and planning on giving up altogether in July (I work 1-1 with a girl who'll be leaving to go to High school so seems like the right time.)
Basically I'm looking to get hints and tips on how to save money and generally improve our way of life. I've already started menu planning and cooking from scratch and finding it so much fun!
Can't wait to get to know you all and share experiences! Jen x0 -
Welcome Drinkupretty and Stargirl29
I really enjoy meal planning and love the weekly thread about what people are going to make for the week. It saves me so much time by knowing what I've got to get (it also saves me trips to the supermarket - yay! In colder and wetter weather, the last thing I want to do is go out lots
) and also money by not being tempted by all the other things I could buy. I love my shopping list!
I also love yellow-stickered items. If I can use them, I don't mind buying them
Welcome to the board

I'm a 'lapsed regular'. Did really well with grocery challenge and was inspired by many threads but lately the only MSE thing about my life has been regular batches of Twinks's hobnobs! But I'm being made redundant at the end of next week and desperately to get back into the swing.
Two fabulous sons who are almost in double figures. One lovely and very patient husband who runs his own business. One guinea pig and a rabbit which a friendly Freecycler offered my boys with when I picked up some tomato plants.
I've done many things work-wise and would love to think that this redundancy will lead to me getting into my dream job. Meanwhile DH is hoping that I'll manage to clear the house from top to bottom and clean the carpets so we can have people round for the first time in ages! Unfortunately my kindly MIL imports charity-shop finds as fast as I can clear things out!
I'm bracing myself for the November grocery challenge. At least if I'm off work it'll be easier to get organised.0 -
Just thought I would introduce myself as I am new to OS, I have been taking part in the store cupboard challenge and I am loving the challenge and all the helpful people here on the OS board.
I am a married 28 year old with a 16 week old baby and a westie dog. My Dh and I want to move out to the country one day, we would love to have a small holding with chickens, ducks, maybe a pig or 2, and lots of space to grow our own fruit and vegtables.
But this is all just a pipe dream at the moment, the reality is that we have a big mortgage and live in a city suburb with a small garden. So we are saving as much money as we can, by living frugally to make that dream a reality as soon as posiible.
I love to cook and I want to learn more about making jam/preserves/pickles etc. as I have never had much luck with these in the past.
I can do basic sewing and cross stitch, but I am a dreadful knitter!I am taking the "make do and mend" mentality, as I have realised how much money we have wasted in the past on food especially, but also clothes and household items too.
I would just like to say a thank you to all you OSers who have made me feel so welcome here too, you are a very friendly bunch and a credit to MSE. :TValue of prizes 2010 - 2017: £8374 Wins 2022: Magic set
Debt free thanks to MSE0
