In theory, yes, but they quite often wriggle out of it - you may or may not get it, but defo worth a try!

    First DTD! Woohoo!
Real suede elbow-length gloves, size M/L marked down in sale from £12 to £6 but went through at £9.

Lovely lady on CS told me it was DTD as it was their mistake, refunded £6 and put through all the extra points coupons I had forgotten to hand over at the till in the first place (250 points and free prize draw, all coupons ending that day).
So got gloves for £3 and still in for a chance to win £10k in the prize draw!
Learning to live with an IVA - no overdraft - no credit cards - no safety net - very very scary _pale_ All advice gratefully received! :A

As Tescos have displayed a misleading price indication and then charged you the higher price they have committed an offence.

You have the option of discussing this with the store who may offer you a financial incentive to overlook their offence.

Alternatively you can report the incident to Trading Standards.

Its important to realise that Trading Standards are 'intelligence led'. This means that they rely on consumers reporting offences to them. The more reports made the more likely it is that an investigation/prosecution will be made.

    No complaints = No action

Since they've offered you no financial incentive the best course of action is to report the store to Trading Standards.

Get your evidence at the time. Most people can take photos with mobile phones now. If you dont, its all too easy for them to deny it.

You should be entitled to DTD on all OOD SELs. It is not your fault they have not taken the SEL down. Many offers are extended and the old SEL left on so you may have presumed the offer was continued. Ask them where on the blue board it says that out of date labels are not included. If they still refuse, call Head Office Customer Services on 0800 505555

As far as I am aware, Tesco is the only one that opperates the 'Double the Difference' policy. I will have a wee look about and see if I can find out the other supermarkets policies.

There was a thread about this somewhere, so I will go and check, then come back and give you the link ;)

Oops... Co-op also have a version of it :-)

Asda refund the difference and you get a giftcard with £2 per item over charged on but you need to ask for the gift card and most of the time insist on the £2 per item as they will try to get away with just £2

Hi Towills, Sorry for the late reply- I got a little side-tracked. I am stumped if I can find the thread I was meaning regarding the list of policies

I have had a look around the interweb though, and this is what i have found.....

Asda: They will refund you the differnece, plus a £2 gift-card. But be wary when doing this for multiples, as some CS will try to give you 1 gift card for the whole lot- but you are actually entitled to 1 gift card per overcharged item (So if you were overcharged on 5 items, according to their own policy, you should get 5 x £2 cards)

    Lidl: Refund the difference only.

Aldi: As Sister Lidl, refund the difference only.

Sainsburys: Refund the differnece only, however if you were to buy a DVD that was marked as £14.99, and still scanned at £14.99 because it was not on offer, but simply shelved in the wrong place marked as £9.99- then you should still be allowed to buy it at £9.99 IYSWIM?

Morrisons: Refund the difference only, and an appology if you are lucky.

Co-op: This is a fascinating one. Someone in my family works there, so I get told of her bargains all the time  If you buy something and you are overcharged, you get Double the Difference back. If you buy something and you are not satisfied, for example you bought a box of chocolates on B.O.G.O.F, and you open the box to find that the sweets must have been too close to a heater or something- then you take the damaged ones back, get a full refund for both plus a replacement for both (while keeping the undamaged box IYSWIM).

Not sure if the last part about the Co-op, but hey-ho! ;)

Hope this is of some use to you!
