Got a DTD from an OOD SEL, expired 11.1.09 (which I believe was a changed end date for this offer - I am fairly certain the SELs originally said this offer was on until 20th January...I spend too long looking at and eating chocolate don't I?!):

2 packs of Quality Street for £5 (each scanned at £3.28, offer didn't work).

Look on separate displays for these as well as in the confectionery aisle as the yellow SEL could still be there. It's the 480g size (including wraps).

Just had a bit of a bust up with TESCO. Purchased a dinner set that had SEL showing half price £12 instead of £24. Went throufgh till at £24 so went to customer service and usually they ask you to take them to the shelf. However this time a supervisor was called and said she would get the person who is responsible for pricing. Ten minutes later they both appeared and said they could not find the half price SEL. I went with them and the SEL had been removed as no long there!!

Manager was called and stated that the set I had had been on special offer but finished yesterday so £24 was correct.

I stated that may be true but the SEL when purchasd stated £12.He said he was within his rights to remove SEL once last item had been taken (it was last one). I stated that when I added to basket the price stated £12 for the set. He then said that as the set is definetely £24 today he can not be held responsible for dearer items being moved to behind lower priced SEL!!!!!!

He then stated no SEL had been removed whilst I waited so he is contradicting himself!! If I moved set behind SEL (which I did not) that proves the SEL was there and the fact now gone it had obviously been removed!!

I think the £12 SEL must have been out of date hence why scanning at £24 and whilst I waited the staff member removed the SEL so did not have to honour price or even give DTD.

To confirm my suspicions the manager told then supervisor upon return to the desk to give me refund (and hand product back to Tesco). The supervisor asked what a £12 refund- I asked why she said that and she said "because it was half price". The manager covered this up gave me a refund of the £24 paid and they kept the item.

I even asked to see CCTV of he last 10mins to prove SEL was removed after I purchased but told this would not happen as no cameras on the area- which I doubt as next to entertainment section on shelf

    Sorry rant over
  • what swines eh !!!

Tesco are playing crafty, i advise anyone to got to SEL and take a photo on mobile phone if you have one THEN go to CSdesk, likewise if you know straight away it will be a problem, snap the SEL on your camera phone. Lets not let them wriggle out of blatant wrongs!

You can request copies of the cctv footage under dpa, you should advise Tesco head office if you intend to do this and point out to them that they are obliged to secure the footage and ensure it does not get erased as it is subject of a data request. It is only worthwhile doing this if you intend to pursue the dtd and the costs you incur are recoverable under a small claims action, the maximum fee that they can charge you for the data request is £10.

You can download a subject acces data request form here.

Hesk I have a pdf with information and guidelines on seeking your recorded data, if you'd like a copy send me a pm with your email address. It's a very infromative and instructive document and well worth the read.

This used to happen a lot in the R&R days. Always volunteer to show them where you got it from before they have a chance to do this - if you head off they'll have to follow you!

The only trouble with this is that it shows you were expecting a misprice.

    Thanks

I would usually do this but as they put an annoucement over the tannoy for the price label lady I presumed that would enable me to take her to the SEL when she arrived.Unfortunetely the supervisor went off and it seems nabbed her first or removed herself.

The manager kept saying could not have been £12 SEL as offer finished yesterday and I could not really say I think it was out of date!
