Re the children happy with Poundland gifts. My DGD, 11, loved her £land ceramic "cartoon" dog money bank more than almost anything and my DGS, 10, loved his navigation compass from the £land camping dept - the cheapest of all their gifts from me!

The christmas pudding bin bags I bought for people have gone down well. I knew it would make people smile, which is what I want at christmas. Ok, it may be an odd gift, but it's useful and silly.
Also the Rhod Gilbert audio CD was a bargain & I'm looking forward to listening to that.

How odd. Did they say why they had been removed from sale?

The council will not collect the rubbish unless it is in a plain black sack here. (Yes, really - only black or it gets left).
Does your area have a similar proscription?

How stupid! What if you want to buy them to wrap up say a duvet or sleeping bag? Much easier to wrap in that-and it's festive-than in wrapping paper. No idea if they'll collect rubbish in them or not. We also have a wheelie bin, so if it's in there, they probably won't even see. We used one of ours to put all the wrapping paper in as we unwrapped the presents.
