Obviously this money saving forum is not suitable for you, as you are indeed alien Rik from another planet!

Here's some audiophile nonsense for you all.
Marigo Labs Signature 3-D Mat - a little mat you place your CDs on. $199
But it doesn't just stop there folks, it makes DVDs look better too!
The optical disc finalizer - a little box that flashes lights at your CDs. $500
And it also works on DVDs!
MIT Oracle v2.1 speaker cables - $8995!
And last but not least, my personal favourite:
Clever Little Clock - a little clock you put in your room, and it makes everything better. $199
I think I'll get two!
Theyre trying to sell a product ~ like ANY salesman
again ~ give me some facts for the love of god........
And you dont even have a clue if what they say actually makes sense (Im not saying its true or not ~ id have to TEST THEM FOR MYSELF). You just stick your head in sand every time mate
:idea:0 -
Mate i'm behind you.....it IS important to have quality cables (gold etc) due to there low resistence (therefore better signal strength, which equals better picture quality, better sound etc)
Cheers buddy. At least theres 2 of us on here that have in fact tried them out for ourselves rather than 'THINKING' WE KNOW IT ALL:idea:0 -
If you wanted to lower the resistance it would be miles cheaper just to make
the cable thicker, but anyway copper has a lower resisance than gold anyway.
Using anything other than copper is rather pointless, the money would be far better
spent on better sheilding from electrical noise.
The most cost effecive way to improve the picture is to clean the screen.
You vary the resistance every time you adjust the volume or brightness anyway so it's
just bull. Complete bull.
partially right with some actual facts in there. But it aint bull mate. Gold is used as it doesnt oxidise like copper would at the ends where air can get to it. For the record the best metal I know to use for connectors is rhodium followed by silver (Or indeed rhodium plated silver)
Also ~ theres no such thing as 100% copper (or silver) which is why they vary in price and quality
And screenings partially right so I cant knock that but in fact the VERY best way is to screen out the interference thats already IN the signal by braiding the cable (waits for more people to 'THINK' they know something to shout me down with......). Trust me ~ its far superior to simple screened cable.:idea:0 -

I can actually save people LOADs of money if they want quality hifi and home cinema
For example ~
Man 'A' buys a 2500 tv from samsung thinking it beats man 'B's 1200 Samsung tv. But man 'B' as used a simple mains conditioner for 35 quid and a silver plated mains cable for approx the same and it looks TWICE as good as the 2500 tv.
hmmmm ~ I think thats quite a saving:idea:0 -
Roll on up people ~ im actually starting to enjoy this.......(kinda gutted im on nightshifts actually):idea:0
-
its purely because the signal going to your tv's box then to the picture has less cable.....less resistance therefore better quality of signal
i don't know about burning in....but i do know that the longer the cable the less quality you get at the other end
Them there are actual facts ~ well done that man
LESS RESISTANCE ~ THATS what im talking about :idea:0 -
Hi to everyone
I have a Samsung 37" lcd tv with built in freeview and a Sagem freeview box with 80gb hard drive. Freeview built in to the tv gives a much better picture than the freeview from the Sagem box, anybody know why?
Thanks
Andy
Sorry about the mess on your post Andy
I swear I was only trying to help:idea:0 -
You people defy belief :T
Now please ~ whoever is the next person to shout me down get some facts first
Nope, sorry, it is you that defy belief, and it is you that needs to justify spending a fortune on fairly mundane bits of wire etc.
Talk about gullible..
We are only talking about connecting up a Freeview Receiver.

dont be a d.i.c.k.
You know exactly what the script is here and it went WAY beyond a simple freeview reciever
What you mean to say is your sat at your computer feeling a bit of a numpty because you THOUGHT you could talk down to me thinking you 'knew it all' when in fact youve proven to me you know absolutely NOTHING about this subject
On the freeview reciever I shall say this
For the best optimum results at a 'relatively' (for the results) low price use a decent MAINS CONDITIONER (Ask and ill point you to a very good cheap one because as with ALL products some people really do try and sell their products through bull. s h i t) and connect the THROUGH the mains conditioner using a braided silver plated mains cable (if thats possible as some of the cheaper tvs have the mains cable built into the unit ~ though there are ways around this)
Cost approx 70 pounds that will make the tv probably twice as good to look at (but highly dependant on wether or not the model is decent or not) after a month (to let the cables settle) and slowly burn in (6 months to a year)
I never mentioned the freeview box there as the original question was WHY is the tvs built in tuner better then the tvs. Well if you need to connect a freeview box then connect that with a decent mains cable too (possibly needs to be a figure of 8 connector) THROUGH the mains conditioner also and connect with a decent (20 quid or more but I personally recommend THOR scart cables) scart cable or component cable (better) or hdmi (best)
and the GULLIBLE people are the ones that spend money on their tvs and home cinema and get about 25% of the possible quality out of it by using absolute rubbish cables:idea:0
