aliEnRIK Your talking looks well sorry but I value my floor more than a minute difference in sound. My hi-fi is very capable of producing a beautiful experience so it does not bother me.
Many thanks for the compliment though and, by the way your hi-fi is even crappier!0 -

I understand you valueing your floor, im simply stating that it will barely have made a difference in sound quality. They simply protect the floor its on (Though some do hold the speaker more solidly in some cases)
I was being nasty when i said your equipment 'probably' isnt very good. (I apologise for that comment actually, Its just I keep getting attacked on here so my way with words is becoming......erm......frustrating)
May I ask what equipment you do have?:idea:0 -

Yep, the point I was trying to make too was the little difference in sound.yet that does not get mentioned it's always some huge improvement.
Your getting attacked by science which I find boring when discussing an art it often misses the point although I feel that most brilliant scientists are artists.
If you don't mind I'm not getting in on the equipment debate. My stuff is certainly not top-end. And I'll be setting myself up for something!!0 -

No worries. Mines not TOP end either but its pretty fine for the money
And thats what Im disliking about this forum. You say anything (at all) and its instantly ATTACKED by someone. I can only say what I have found through MY own personal experiences. How people can shout me down for that I really have no idea.:idea:0 -
You missunderstand my point Marty
Im simply pointing out thats there IS clearly a difference. The differences they heard was down to actual taste. Some cables sound bright, others bassy, others powerful and so on and built to peoples tastes and whatever they intend to use the cable for. As its explained in the review 1 of the cables would be best on the transport (cd or dvd) and the other style cable best connected to everything else. Ive heard some VERY expensive cables in my time and some sounded, well, tinny (to my ears), or too much bass. The best cables are 'natural' sounding. Ones that dont 'add' anything to the mix. So if someone plays an instrument it SOUNDS like the instrument should, not distorted in some way. SO its all dependant on the music thats being played. If somone likes balls out rock then they probably woudlnt mind the cheaper variety as they tend to be a bit 'brighter' sounding than the 'natural' sounding cables (This is just one example of thousands)
Ill reiterate what he pointed out ~
"“Over the course of a month of use, the sound I have heard through the Valhallas progressed from flat, dull and dry to shiny bright albeit monochromatic to its current level. I remember at one point lamenting that while the top was as transparent and vibrant as all get-out, there was precious little body and bass. As you will read below, that is NOT the case once these power cords are broken in. Had I drawn conclusions based on my initial experiences with the cabling, you would be reading a very different review.”
"
He 'clearly' states they sounded different from initially having them to what they are today.
So to sum up, all cables do NOT sound the same............
Also, theres serious failings with the actual test but I dont see a way around it either. Ive tried similar things in the past but you end up getting confused for one simple reason. It takes a while for everything to bed in as soon as ANY cable is changed. So when I test cables now (or indeed anything that I class as an 'upgrade') I leave them for a month (Even if they are already fully burned in). Over that time you will realise what differences there are. If your not happy you change back.
As in example I bought my dads old speaker cable off him (which is very good stuff) and even though it was FULLY burned in (over 3 years or more) it sounded.....weird to begin with. Shrilly with lots of treble. It took my system 3 days or more to calm down (Whilst the hifi adjusts if you will). After a month or more it sounded absolutely beautiful ~ FAR better than the QED I HAD been using.
But you're ignoring the fact that when they didn't know what cable was connected, they were unable to tell a "bright cable" from a "bassy cable", which suggests the differences they heard were all in their imagination. If no one can tell whether a cable sounds better or worse without looking at the label, why bother?
I've never heard of a cable that needs "bedded" in. People who work with critical applications where data transmission has to be 100% accurate such as life support machines or in operating theatres certainly don't bed their cables in.And thats what Im disliking about this forum. You say anything (at all) and its instantly ATTACKED by someone. I can only say what I have found through MY own personal experiences. How people can shout me down for that I really have no idea.
No one is attacking you, or shouting you down, merely disagreeing with you. This is a discussion forums after all. I think you should perhaps try to separate yourself from your opinions.0 -
copper corrodes over time gold doesn't thats why its used (i should add gold plated here)
silver is the best out of copper gold and silver (silver is not used because of the cost and its weakness)
Silver is not used because it tarnishes, leave it a while and it will be covered with
presumably black silve oxide. Gold connectors are waste of money.0 -

Just clean connections once a year or so. If your equipment is sensitive enough you can hear a difference.I've lost the picture on my TV and I've even heard of computers mucking up due to corrosion.
Better to get rid of plugs and sockets and have everything soldered (Not the mains please!)
I don't know anything about burning in but eg replace your speaker cables with solid mains cables and you should hear a difference. I won't influence you by saying what it is and it will be subtle0 -

Thats sound advice (literally)
My grandfathers computer (and this suprised me a little as computers are in NO way 'hifi', in which case id have put it in the ~ either 'works' or 'doesnt' category) didnt work properly until he changed the fuse in the plug! Soon as he did the next boot up spring into life and was just quicker at everything (Still entirely slow by todays standards but its just one example of a bad connection/corrosion?
The actual best 'sound' advice I can give is this ~ before doing ANYTHING else make sure that the speakers you use (even the rubbish ones) are as 'rock solid as possible'. ANY movement in them AT all will be at detriment to the sound.:idea:0
