keep going - 4 days is really achievable and compare how far you've come in relation to the marathon you felt you were facing a week ago.

What an uplifting and inspiring thread this has turned in to. Thankfully I am not in dire straights (financially anyway) but in the blink of an eye I could be and I have no plan B, that is scary!!
I'm taking away a few great tips from here but most of all learning from Jo's approach to managing what seemed like a hopeless situation to start with.
Thanks Jo and everyone else who has contributed, and special thanks to Kittie who posted the link to this thread on a doom and gloom thread.
Well done!!!!

Thankyou, I have learned so much. Now that I look back and am glad I was in this situation. I have learned so many valuable lessons. I get paid this Friday 15th and I have plans, to straight my emergency fund straight away. After my rent gas elec etc paid. This will be my first priority. Its a must, as you have all explained to me. If I do not have an emergency fund, in an emergency I will have to use my bill money, which will start it all over again

Hiya and thankyou for popping on to support me. It has be a very uplifting experience. I think I may have gone to far the other way now. :rotfl: As i am making do and mending, looking at all kinds of web sites for saving and reusing stuff. OH is amazed.
I went up into the loft yesterday and got down at least £100 worth of clothes, that are tight (sh) I go on holiday in 5 weeks. Very silly really when you think of how much debt I am in and holiday and spending money has cost me 1200    but, as i keep saying on my other thread. Cant do a damn thing about the past, so put it behind you and move on. We can only re shape today and tomorrow. But if I continue to eat sensibly for 5 weeks, clothes should be fine for my holiday, so no need to buy any new ones:j

I would like to thank everyone of you who came to my rescue I took all your advice on board. You all took such a large part in my being able to deal with this situation.
I was going to bring this thread to and end on "pay day" as my dilemma would then be over.
But what do you think if I keep it going and update on my progress. I must admit I got the idea from Yoni_one. Maybe someone may benefit in the future from my experience.
I would also publicly like to send a big thankyou to the person in this thread that offered to send me cash, although they had little of there own. I was overwhelmed and it reduced me to a bubbling wreck, that a complete stranger was prepared to send me cash. I declined the offer, as I thought I must get through this on my own without any financial help from family and friends. i have been to them so many times before, and i was damned if I was going again.

For an emergency fund, I would look at surveys at least! I do quite a few for paper vouchers (keep aside in xmas/emergency fund), and some go into paypal, which I can withdraw into the bank. I also make sure I have loyalty cards wherever possible, and check online for best price of anything, a little work can really build up! Got most of my xmas shopping done already from looking at the Boots forum for good glitches, and using the points in the sales - spent £70 in points in Jan on gifts, cards and decor, done throughout the year perfectly!
You can get on top of this easilly and keep on track
