Changes to BT 1280

Thanks but what is "WSC"?
So far in this thread we've had WAC, WCA, WLR and now WSC :eek:0 -
well today I phoned Primus and moved my CPS to them from Sky.
they reassured me that 1280 will still work although said that their calls were as cheap as BT (in fact cheaper due to call copnenction charges being lower- especially in NGN). Heinz can you look into this as I can't find anything on the primus site about NGN rates.
At the end of the day all I lose is the free call to Sky Customer services. Lets hop it doens't come to needing that too often :rolleyes:5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -
Is it definite then that keeping line rental with BT and having calls from someone else via CPS be it Sky, Primus or anyone else will still allow you to use 1280 to route via BT?
If BT's statement only applies to people who have moved their line rental it is extremely misleading.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I'm with Sky Talk Freetime (for calls only) and BT Unlimited Weekend Plan for line rental. I make 2 calls a month via 1280 to qualify for free caller display. I did this last on the 17th July, and planned to do it again on 17th August as my bill date is the 24th of every month.
As Sky now ignore the 1280 prefix (I haven't tested this myself yet) I want to cancel Sky Freetime and move back to BT for calls. I do not want the Evening+Weekend package with the 12 month rolling contract, the standard Weekend plan will do fine for now. I make very few 01/02/03 evening calls but I may sign up to Primus in the future. For now I just want to get rid of Sky so I can continue to get Caller Display for free and avoid the extortionate 0845/0870 charges which are now apparently forced through Sky unless I use 18185 or similar (I use the Heinz Orchid plan).
What would be the quickest way of cancelling Sky Talk? Would it work if I login to the BT site and change the calling plan to the "unlimited weekend plan", even though I'm already on it?
Cheers0 -
I would call BT and ask for the calls to be moved back to them,
Alternatively, if you are even slightly considering Primus why not just phone them and ask them to take over your calls ONLY.
They will do it in 15 days.
BT will also do it in 15 days if you dial 150 and ask them.
As I say you have to do something about it anyway so why not just move to Primus.5KW solar, Lux 3.8KW inverter, Uhome 2400 LPF x 6, SOLIC 200 immerser diverter, Leaf 62Kwh, MG ZSev, Ohme home charger, Zappi v2.1, Import: Octopus intelligent ; Export: Octopus Energy Export, 15KW biomass pellet boiler - Windhager., Home Assistant (newbie)0 -
The 12 month contract is also for the weekend plan if you are returning.0

Thanks newbuilder, I decided to go straight over to Primus and I've signed up for the Saver Option 2 CPS calls only with the Penny Mobile 2 addon. The 12 month contract is also for the weekend plan if you are returning.
Thanks, I was not aware of that. Primus is the best option then0 -
Yeah, been mentioned on MSE forums along with the letters being sent out. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
Lets hope you are right Heinz.
If my broadband stops I will be angry, mind you I don't really understand these changes at the moment.
First I became aware was reading this thread today.
But I have read it as even CPS calls will be treated the same.
My BT account No starts with SS, I did or thought I did read ages ago WLR3 accounts have another prefix to the number.
But you already knew that Heinz.

I will keep an eye on my account number now.If saved £2710 and only spent the interest (Based on a return of 5%), you would have enough money to pay your TV Licence every year. Saving you £7452.50 over a period of 55 years, based on you buying a license from the age of 20 until your 75 at a cost of £135.50.0
