Teria-I think it's quite natural to be feeling sad about your childhood home, end of an era and all that, but you'll have memories to look back on,specially when you start sorting your boxes out! I still find it hard to throw stuff from my mum and dads( I think I'm just a natural born hoarder,DH would just chuck the lot).(((HUGS))) to all, must get on.Have a good day X

    Good morning!

Grey clouds looming here, but sun in managing to shine a few rays through, so dd3 is already out on her skates, bless her! Think we've had our money's worth already, I'm pretty sure she took them off for dinner and bed but they were on again first thing this morning. Thankfully they've got urethane wheels so don't make the dreadful noise that my old metal roller skates used to, so we haven't driven our neighbours mad yet

dd1 has hoovered already, must be pocket money day again lol! DW was all done last night, must've been the fairies or another child who is keen for a lie in this morning, that'll be ds then! dd2 is tidying up the sitting room! So not too much housework to do today, yippee!

Need to pop on the BM in a bit but that's it I think, wm is on already. Will be rolls for lunch and who knows what for dinner, will rootle around in the freezer later.

Got my friend who's expecting round later, her three will be staying for the night, the littlest is my god daughter, thought she might need a rest! It's lovely having them to stay, size wise they all fall in between my girls, so when we go out people always stare and ask if all of them are mine! I feel like one of the von Trapps!

Got my best friend round later as well, after he's finished his golf match, think he just fancies a free lunch! dd3 will be happy as she thinks he's fab! So looks like a crowded house again today, pretty sure my neighbours two girls are having dinner here as well! Think I might just bung something in the slow cooker then everyone can help themselves.

Gonna have a catch up on here and a coffee and then get on with things. Need to whizz out later and pick some bits up for dd2's birthday tomorrow and also need to grab some cleaning stuff, my pal who's selling his house got the keys back from his tenant yesterday and she has left a right old mess behind, I know I'm not the tidiest person, but who can live with things growing under their fridge, manage to rip a sink off the wall and destroy carpets, anyway Sunday is tidy up day! He's promised a bbq to keep us all going, he'd better remember some vegeburgers!

Have a good day all xx

Candygirl good luck for your dad today,I will be thinking of you both.
A few years ago a friend of ours used to have lots of transfusions, and sometimes he was ok and others very tired, so I thought you could do with a couple of these :grouphug: (((HUGS)))

    Morning all
Hubby's not working today so I've only just prised him off the pc.
Washing's on the line, DW finished & emptied, chicken is marinaded in jerk seasoning ready for tea tonight. Hubby has watered the garden & so saved me the job. The peas & beans are still cropping & the toms & cucumbers are coming along nicely.
Hope you find some new LO's soon Cat.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

Isn't it strange how we all handle things differently, I purposely have not remembered the dates Mum, MIL & FIL died, I remember them on their birthdays and Mothers/Fathers Day, but do not wish to remember the sad day. I get flowers but display them at home so I can see them a remember them that way.

    Hi DG,

I am not deliberately remembering the 'sad day' but it's a bit difficult not to as she had her birthday one day and died the next so it all feels sort of rolled into one. We had our birthdays on consecutive days and often celebrated together so she's on my mind today, and for me it feels appropriate to take her flowers on her birthday.

As you say, we all handle things in different ways and what a boring old world it would be if we didn't. :)

Celyn - you did make me laugh with your post. How dare that 17 year old patronise you for a start, but what really made me laugh was the way you described the men trying to look as if they knew what they were doing with the car! At least they gave in in the end! At least your CBT is out of the way now - let's hope you'll soon be riding your bike. We've had bikes and done a lot of foreign travelling on them but we gave them up some years ago when having cars was more practical for the family; we'd love to get another one and it's one of the things we are aiming for, although the roads are so much busier now, aren't they? When we had ours the roads were a lot safer for motorbikes.

Well, I've done my food shopping - it still needs putting away but I was dying for a coffee so that came first. I also got the rest of the ribbon and dress net that I needed; I was very very good in Hobbycraft. I didn't get distracted and buy anything other than what I went in for. They had made it tempting by having moved all the counters around since my last visit so I had to walk past a lot of temptations! Anyway, I must surely have enough stuff now to get the favours finished over the weekend!

I called into a couple of charity shops and picked up some brand new wool - a 400g ball of cream Aran and two 100g balls of chunky, one air force blue and the other, cream, and it came to the grand total of £1! I shall use the Aran to crochet a couple of cushion covers for someone for Christmas.

Anyway, mioliering again; I must go and put the shopping away.

RedRuby - your DH must have finished his test by now! I was thinking about him as I drove round one of the roundabouts that was on my test route - one that's usually teaming with traffic but, on my test, it was completely empty and I sailed around it! It was the one thing I had been dreading because my test time was in the early morning rush hour! Fingers crossed that you are celebrating!

We've had wintery showers and brilliant hot spells this morning and it's been really blustery - not how the 1st August weather should be!

    See ya!

Candygirl - hugs for you and your Dad, hope the transfusion goes okay.

Mioliere, how lucky with the wool :) I love hunting in charity shops for wool. I'm making a blanket currently and have a huge bag full of bits in different colours. I'm collecting bits faster than I can knit though :rotfl:When I was a kid my mum had a huge banket on her bed that she'd crocheted whilst travelling to work when she was younger. I was always fascinated with it when I was little because of the patterns. I want to make something similar - I can't knit well, but I do have lots of little embellishements and buttons, so I'm knitting various squares and will stitch things onto them to make them more exciting. I always imagined each square on my mums blanket to have a story attached, so I thought I could write something for each of the ones I make too :) I have about twenty-five so far, and about 14 little simple stories. Some of the little items mean things too; I have a small pendent stitched onto one of them that belonged to my great-grandmother, some buttons from one of my mums old dresses and beads from different parts of the world for example.

And it was pitch black too *sighs* :rotfl: :rotfl:I don't know a lot, but I know enough to know when not to bother :o It seems a universal response though, a male friend of mine was like that too - I was almost at the stage I was going to paint the names on the engine compenents in tippex to stop the spot-the-spark-plug-game

Mind you, my last OH was worse with these things. When he found the windscreen washers weren't working, he took it to the garage, then phoned me to say how happy he was that they'd fixed it for free - they were just out of water.

    Hello again

A busy last 24 hours for me!
I had some good karma today...last night as I was coming home from work a boy in his late teens was knocked off his bike so I called an ambulance. Thankfully it looked like he had only broken his ankle...
But today I had half day to sort out getting a new passport, as I has invalidated my old one...long story don't ask!! :rotfl:
I was originally told I could have it delivered to work but when I got there I was told I couldn't but the lady at my 'interview' said I could get in done on the same day service. It did cost £114 but it does mean I don't have to worry about it. I'm back at work now and waiting for 530 so I can run down to Victoria to pick it up

I naughtily did a Primark splurge as well :o but I did pick up some of their 'key' pieces so if I need the money I can always sell them on eBay!!

Made bread last night too and have been munching away on homemade toast. It's a bit doughy but not bad for a first attempt. This did get in the way of my chores night though so I'll have to get them done tonight. Does anyone have any tips on what to cleaners to use to mop a kitchen floor? I'm so undomesticated!

    :hello: to everyone here

Celyn - I love the sound of your blanket - what a lovely idea.

RedRuby - any news yet on DH's test?

Well, It's quite cold here at the moment because the sun keeps going in and the wind is really strong. You could almost want to put gloves and boots on to go out. I hope it clears up for the weekend.

Well, off to do some work.
