    Grrrr

I just found out that they'll send cards etc to the branch AFTER I completed the application.

That's useless since the account will be open before I start my course and I specified the branch at my Uni as the branch I wanted the account to be at. (35 miles away and opens Mon-Fri 9am-3pm - I work 9-5)

There's not a Natwest any closer anyway - I figured this wouldnt be an issue. If I wait a few weeks to send back the stuff they send me, will they cancel my application or will it still go ahead?

Call the branch in a week and ask them to post the card to you as you are unable to get to them during the week or get them to forward it to a branch that is open on the saturday if that is possible.

    hi natwesttaffmember.......

i'm not sure if you got my email about natwest saying i was 'did not fit the criteria'........ wondering if you think i should try again?

there isn't a reason going from the info that i shouldn't fit the criteria......

    regards

    jayne

Was it by Private Message here? Can you send it again unless I have replied since your message(I do try and reply to every Private Message if a question is asked).

  • FDA is a foundation degree.
Unfortunately the foundation year excludes you from the student account. When you reach the equivalent of year 1 university undergraduate degree status, you can apply for the student account. I am not sure if other banks will offer the student account from foundation year level.

  • THe overdraft needs to be aplied for from 16th August 2008 or saturday which means it would take effect 19th August 2008.

That's what I was told in branch but now that I've phoned them up they say they can only do it from the 1st of September.

It is the equivalent of the first year under graduate. It's a two year foundation which you can apply to do the third upon completion. When you complete the third you are awarded a bachelors degree.

If you are a first year undergraduate starting in September/October then that is wrong information.

You need to consider which university you are going to and the banks near or on campus. You need to think about whether you need an overdraft facility or savings. There is a link at the top of the forum to the best student accounts from 2007-08. Use that as a guide to help you. And take your time and don't rush into things. You have plenty of time to do that. Deal with the more stressful things first and then sort out the bank next week or the week after. You'll be fine.
