Update - the man I spoke to said it takes 48 hours and would have been processed yesterday (Monday) so it should be on tomorrow. If it' snot on tomorrow we'll have to go through the process all again - what fun!
  • My loan's set to go into the account but I'm going to take it out and put it in a Nationwide e-savings account as it's got a higher rate than Natwest's instant access ISA. I will however continue to use it for my payments, direct debits and budget payments.
  • still nothing for me, utter farce by natwest, i have books etc to buy, i've been approved for an overdarft, marked down last week tuesday for it, and nothing!

If it was processed on the previous working day it should be on today, although it can take up to 48 hours .
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009

  • natweststaffmember, do I have to use the Natwest Student Account as my main account (as in, putting my student loan in it) to be accepted for one? or can I upgrade from my existing Natwest account to a Student Account, and not use it for my student loan?

    Many thanks :)

    Hiya,

Nothing today either - the lady I spoke to on Saturday said it should be on Tuesday and that I was allowed it all.

The gentleman I spoke to on Tuesday said that he could see I was allowed it all and it should be on today (Wednesday)

The woman I spoke to today said my application can't even be found...!

It SHOULD be on tomorrow as she says she's going to put a note on my account to get it pushed ahead.

I'm not holding my breath. I've just had to extend the hold period of another course related book for the shop to hold on for me - I'm sure they think I'm messing them around :(

Is there any way to link a student account to a parent account so the student account can go overdrawn without charges provided there is money in the parent account? Maybe I am talking about guarantor accounts, if they exist.

Ok... So I went into the branch Monday morning... The women behind the counter thing was sorting it out, she then approached me and said "because you have had the account since before you were 18, your overdraft application has to go to learning head office (or summin like that) to be looked at." Me "Um, ok. How long roughly will I have to wait?" her "maybe a week or two, they'll send you a letter".

What is going on? I'm being peanalised beacuse I've had an account with them for ages?? That's how it seems. Any ideas?

    Cheers

I have a question. I'm doing a PGCE which is a one year course. Now, your website says that your student account is for those doing at least a 2 year course. And people on the TES forums have been refused an account by their branches because the PGCE is just one year. But on your first post here you say it applies to 1 year post-grad courses.

Can you please confirm if a PGCE student is eligible for a student account.

Edited to add: I don't have an existing student account which I'd like to keep as I graduated 15 years ago.
  • Hi all i have a questions.

I have upgraded to student acount 2 months ago and i have got the welcome pack and everything but i have not received my maestro card and cheque book. The solo card i have at the moment will expire end of this month. My place at universirty has been confirmed and unconditional but it's my insurance choice. What do i have to do to get my maestro card?

Also if i want to apply for over draft, do i have to go the branch that i opened my account from or just any branch? Because the branch i opened my account is very far from where i live.

    Thanks in advance
