Hi all i have a questions.
I have upgraded to student acount 2 months ago and i have got the welcome pack and everything but i have not received my maestro card and cheque book. The solo card i have at the moment will expire end of this month. My place at universirty has been confirmed and unconditional but it's my insurance choice. What do i have to do to get my maestro card?
Also if i want to apply for over draft, do i have to go the branch that i opened my account from or just any branch? Because the branch i opened my account is very far from where i live.
Thanks in advance
You have to ask them to upgrade the card to Maestro otherwise they will continue to send you Solo cards. Same with the chequebook as well they need to set it up if your old account didn't have one. Shouldn't matter what branch you do any of this in.0 -
Is there any way to link a student account to a parent account so the student account can go overdrawn without charges provided there is money in the parent account? Maybe I am talking about guarantor accounts, if they exist.
Unfortunately not. The account can be linked to your parents account if they become third party on the account. The question is, do you want your parents knowing what you are spending your money on?0 -
Sorry to ask this, which I'm sure has been asked a million times before but oh well:
Is it possible to get 2 student accounts, with the NatWest being one of them? Thanks.0 -
Hope someone can help here. Daughter has/had a student account with Natwest, which she has had difficulty with-lost account nos/no railcard etc. She then got a letter from a Tamarisk Debt Management alleging they had taken over the OD-the said company is Natwest.they were sent a letter asking for details of the debt. They cashed the cheque for the information but didn't provide it-even though this is a legal requirement. Nat west still claim they can't find the account details
a)What is the best way forward ?
b) 'Tamarisk Debt Management alleged they had the account but provided no details-as stated they got the letter because they cashed the cheque for the details and this was several weeks ago way outside the statutory limits
Any information gratefully received
and yes I am angry with her for getting herself into this pickle0 -

I also have a Nationwide e-savings, but you are incorrect e-savings pays a rate of 4.4% net (without tax) and Natwest's E-ISA pays 5.5% net (don't have to pay tax, but max deposit of £3600 in a tax year). I'm going to put my grants in it so they can be earning and if I need them I can just take them out :-)0 -

It states in the Natwest student account terms and conditions you have to have it as your main account (i.e...paying all loans grants etc into it), which would probably be the case with other accounts.0 -

I'm the parent and I don't want to watch what DS spends the money on, I just thought it would be useful for him to have no bank charges in return for me maintaining large balances on my NatWest accounts. 25 years ago, I'm sure my parents did similar for me, though students were better provided for and I was too frugal to go into overdraft.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. The only bank charge that students are eligible for, so to speak, is unpaid item charge or having a standing order/cheque/direct debit being bounced. The rest are not applicable to student/graduate accounts.0 -

Is this is in the right forum? Should this be in the reclaim forum? Is she doing a SAR to NatWest?

I have a question. I'm doing a PGCE which is a one year course. Now, your website says that your student account is for those doing at least a 2 year course. And people on the TES forums have been refused an account by their branches because the PGCE is just one year. But on your first post here you say it applies to 1 year post-grad courses.
Can you please confirm if a PGCE student is eligible for a student account.
Edited to add: I don't have an existing student account which I'd like to keep as I graduated 15 years ago.
You are eligible for the account but not the incentives. Hope that helps.0
