Bath measures .5m*1.3m*.3m (not actually 1.3m, but that is the average).

    This is 200l.
The incoming water supply is at about 15C.
I want it at 41C or so.
    This is 26C hotter.

    Energy needed is 26C * 200l *4180J/Kg/C, or 21.7MJ.
    6037 watt-hours, or 6 kWh.
Times my average unit rate is 73p.
I'm not sure where I got 80 from, I may have assumed a slightly shallower bath. I just went and measured.

I think someone posted earlier that if you fill your bath to the rim (as you seem to imply), then you'll have a very wet bathroom when you try to get in.

The average amount of water used for a bath is 80 litres, so about 1/3rd of he way to the brim before getting in, according to several pages from a google search. If you used 80 litres, the cost (using the rest of your figures) would be below 30p. If you had it as deep as possible, i.e. so it reaches the brim when you get in, the cost would be (again based on your numbers) a max of 50p imv.

Our bath has a 'waist' so it uses less water - not sure how many litres our bath is, but I do know it costs me about 1kwh for a bath, whereas yours seems to cost 2.5kwh (@80l).

    I just remeasured - after I got out - and measure 25cm, not 30cm.
However, I also forgot I had covered up the overflow, as water was running out of it when I got in.

So - my numbers are moderately accurate - I just may be rather atypical in how deep I like my bath.
  • I've had two baths brimming to the top today. Oooops! :D
    Smile, why not.
  • A daily paper costs at least £1 now, so why not a bath?

Quite agree with you on this one, I don't buy newspapers now saved loads of money, would much rather have my daily waist level bath to ease my aching muscles and bones.
