Could always bath with a friend! - seem to remember that was in vogue during the last big drought ;)
Funny how I never seemed to have any friends:confused:

I was brought up in Africa so there was always a drought on. My sister and I always had a bath in the same water then my Mum would top it up with hot water and then have hers.

Now all my kids bath together but because 2 have chronic eczema (bathing can be tramatic) they only have 2 full baths a week. In between they will have an inch of water at most and have a foot and privates wash.

Not if you use a power shower ;) (oooh, I'm getting onto several of my soap-boxes today :D ) they use as much water as a bath, AFAIK.

I'm not following you round to knock you off your soap boxes, Penny, :D 'cos I'm agreeing with you here. We don't have a shower at present, but in our last house sons 1 and 2 spent an inordinate amount of time under showers. What could they be doing that takes so long? Let's not go there.

I've always run a bath for me in the evening and then the kids get in one after t'other topping it up at the end and I'm sure that uses less water than separate showers.

I would love a shower on sticky days like these but, short of removing the bathroom door, I can't see how I could make them water or money saving in our house!

Don't think we've got one of those -just an ordinary shower over our bath -certainly doesn't feel very powerful. I'm the quickest showerer in our house;)

DSS#1 is 17 - you can't get him OUT of the bathroom and a 'quick shower' takes half an hour! (He doesn't like baths). DSS#2 is 13 and it is hell's work to get him IN the bathroom to wash at all! Not sure which is worse - but at least DSS#2 is cheaper!

DH & I try to share the bath water, but it makes sense for me to go first (he does manual work and gets dirtier than me!), apart from he likes the water scalding hot and I can't take it...

    'Ow much!!!!!!!!!!!! 96pence.

I can have a shower and wash my hair in less than 5 minutes.

One answer could be that after the family has used the water for a bath you can use it for the first wash of the clothes. Have a bath in the evening and the clothes can 'steep' all night.

I'm afraid I'm another "worth every penny" person. Nice and hot, and with a cup of tea/glass of wine (depending on how foul a day I've had) and a book and that's me set for the evening.
  • My friend has 3 kids and her, hubby and all 3 kids have a bath everynight and ALL have new water for each!! My god, it must cost them a fortune:eek: !

I get a shower (over the bath) 2 or 3 times a week and I put the plug in to catch the water so dd (6) either gets in the bath after me or more often than not gets in while I'm still in the shower!! (Thankfully she has now grown out of weeing in the bath so I don't mind sharing!!:rotfl: )

I wouldn't say we were particularly grubby:o ! Daily baths seem slightly excessive especially at that price!

Must admit I prefer a bath and the way our plumbing is in the bathroom I'm not sure how easy (or expensive) it would to have a shower put in.
Can see a lot of folk going back to the once a week bath and rest of the time having a good strip wash...........like we always did when we were kids

I had no idea that it cost that much:eek: I like lamewolf could not get through the day without my morning bath, my hair just sticks up if I don't wash it every day, ikwim.

we do have a shower over the bath which isn't a power shower, but its very powerfull, it runs straight off the combi boiler, as does the bath.

I am saving up to have bathroom tiled, so until then we can't use the shower, so i think we will have to get that done asap, so we can use the shower again, however if we all had seperate showers it would use more than just the one bath we normally share, wouldn't it??
