    morning all

meanmarie, i hope your daughter has good news

Candygirl i hope things go well for your Dad

welcome to melli and any other newbies

hugs to everyone who wants/needs one

i left my washing out last night so had a mad rush in the garden to save it from a downpour this morning. not worth doing a wash today as there isnt enough in the laundry basket for a full load.
not much planned for today, hoping to do some cakes later will do jacket pots for lunch and put cakes in alongside them.

i hope everyones day has something nice in it

we opted for capped with scottish power, weve been with them a while it didnt cost us to renew the capping, BUT our monthly dd has just gone up to £111!!! as they said on the 3 monthly assessment of our usage we were using more than they worked out. Needless to say ive tightened up on wastefull things like people putting the emersion on and forggeeting to turn it off. 3 days later when i realise the water is scalding or i going in the airing cupboard i discover it!!! also some mornings we get up and the house is lit up like blackpool illuminations- not sure which child sleepwalks or feels the need to turn every light in the house on during nocturnal loo visits.

    Good morning (just) everyone,

meanmarie - Good luck to your DD!! (i passed on my 3rd attempt!!)

Candygirl - hope all goes well with your dad xx

Miolliere - i fixed my prices with EON, and they didnt charge me - wonder if its a new thing they have added to stop people capping!!??

    Welcome melli

dorry and CM - hope the heads feel better soon!!

Quiet day here, have 2 older girls here but thats all. More bad news yesterday, in the last week ive lost 2 of the LOs i look after due to the parents splitting up - and it not being worth their while working! Its a bad job when you get so much more sat on your a*se all day rather than working!!! I was brought up to work, and it annoys me that people are basically getting more money than me for doing nothing. Mind you, with pre school age children i do think if mum wants to stay at home it is good that they can - its just frustrating for me to loose the work.

Have the WM on, and will be whipping the duster around in a mo - think i will make lunch first tho, my stomach is starting to rumble!!
Made Aussies scones the other day, and they were lovely - well worth doing if you are in the mood to do some baking!

Hope everyone has a lovely day,
    Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

    Hello all
    ((((hugs)))) to folks
Sunny and warm here. 2nd load of washing due to be hung on line. Have done both at the short 30oC wash.
Just managed to cap gas & electricity so am relieved.
Had a wonderful few days away in Scotland - saw DS + DD, also met DD's boyfriend (wonderful guy and really cares for her). Saw Runrig play at Edinburgh Castle. Went further north to visit the rellies.
    Am homesick <sigh>
Ok off to hang out that washing instead of feeling sorry for self.
    Have a good day everyone

    afternoon here

not catched up for a few days been quite busy

work started on the house, its nearly stripped back to brick ready to be replastered, so hopefully by next week that will all be done, than at some point ll wants to do drive way

ds3 had his 1st speech theropy yesterday (like an assesment thing) was a bit shocked at the end, ds is being refered to a peaditrician for some sort of assesments as there is not only a complete lack of speech but she also said he has no social skills she did explain everything to me but it started sounding all jumbled up will make more sense when she sends me her report thingy, he is now going on list for speech theropy, something else to do with pre schoolers and then will have to wait and see what the peadiatricians say when he has seen them (have to wait for an appointment for that so i could be waiting a while) bit shocked over it all, i only mentioned my concerns to hv over the fact he doesnt say anything and only at 2 was babbleing like a baby does before there 1st birthday.

ds2 has the hospital tomorrow and then i need to get things ready for his birthday yes tomorrow is cake decorating night will be interesting!

    sorry for the rambleing

    Hi there

Beth - I'm sending lots of (((hugs))) to you; what a lot you have to worry about at the moment.

Thanks for all the comments about capping. I think I'll do what Churchie is doing and ride it out. There's only the two of us here now and we are both very conscious of turning lights off and so on. I've just heard someone on Radio Two saying his bills have been going down due to energy efficiencies he's installed. I didn't hear all he said but I assume he means cavity wall insulation and so on. He did say that he keeps all his upstairs radiators off even in winter. Now, I don't like the radiator on in the bedrooms anyway because I don't like waking up to it, but I'm not sure if I'll feel like keeping the hall and bathroom ones off! Also, if I need to dry the washing indoors, rather than use the tumble drier, I'll turn the radiator on in the smallest spare room, hang the washing on the clothes horse and shut the door - this works a treat but now I don't know whether that will be dearer than using the drier! One good thing to come of this is that it is making us all concentrate our efforts on saving as much energy costs as we can. Should the prices ever come down to what they were, the utility companies may have a shock when they realise that we won't go back to being quite as free and easy with their gas and electricity. I'm so glad I bought my Remoska which is in almost daily use now and must have saved me money in the month I've had it. Now I'm just waiting for E.On to climb on the bandwagon and announce their latest rises!

Anyway, apart from that, today is very warm again but not really sunny. The washing is out so hopefully will dry. I just popped out to the shops and bought some essentials and some confetti for DS2's wedding (a week tomorrow!!). I'd forgotten completely about confetti so it's lucky I saw some when I was shopping.

Anyway, I'd better go and think about what to have for lunch.

    See you all later.

    KathyXX

Fizzel - just read your post - sending (((hugs))) to you. I do hope things work out for your DS3.

:hello: Good afternoon, everyone, hope everyone is doing OK,and those with hangovers are improving!
I caught the bus to the local small market town this morning, only usually takes ten mins, but the main road is shut, theyre renewing a gas main, and diversions are in place. There are only 2 roads in and out,1 now,so that gets really busy. The work is supposed to take 7 weeks- it is causing chaos for people going to and from work.DH & DS2 set off early today to try and beat it and will be late tonight.
Anyway,I picked up a few bits of fruit and veg off the market and changed my library books, just had a sandwich with the rolls I made yesterday-bit chewy but quite nice.I think I'll do lasagne for tea,so I can just warm it up when they do get in.
Massive pile of ironing to do so I'd better make a move.OS board is so addictive....last night just before I went to bed I was looking at the 'Don't use Gas and Electric' thread, then I couldn't get to sleep cos all the ideas were buzzin around in my brain LOL.I capped ours with Scottish Power last week, hopefully it should work out cheaper ( it says it will anyway)We were with Npower before, when I did the comparison they seemed pricey compared to SP.We'll see.
Have a good day everyone

Many thanks for good wishes for DD2...she passed, her provisional license doesn't run out for ages but she insists she needs to get full license NOW so is taking her first solo trip in my car soon...will be a nervous wreck until she comes back! She lives in Islington so will not be getting a car as nowhere to park and no need with London transport system, but it will be very convenient for when she is here as we are miles from everywhere...no more ferrying needed.

You lucky lot, being able to move your electricity accounts around...we have no option here, other that getting out of the system altogether and depending on sun and wind!

    Back later no doubt
