Then you will also know that 0% deals invariably have the costs hidden elsewhere. Credit is never free. Buying new always costs more, depreciation starts as soon as you put the key in.
I do know that.
I also know about depreciation, but I think you factor the cost of dep against pleasure & trouble free motoring and see if its worth the cost personally.0 -
0% Deals are only ever given on vehicles that they cannot sell normally, the downside is when it comes around to time to sell, nobody wants what you have.
There is no such thing as a " free lunch " .. but you work in " Finance " so you will know that anyway.0 -
The longer you keep it the better, the problem is a lot of people get bored or get caught up keeping up with the Jones's, using spiralling credit. As Danny said, don't expect a discount and a 0% deal.
I'm fairly good at the haggling & getting a good deal, I can also work out the true & full cost.
What I was short on were the websites I was kindly recommended that have new cars at discounted prices & people have kindly supplied me with those.0 -
What have you started here? You asked a simple question - not sure that is allowed.
I've just had a quick flick thru - next time PM and I'll get my boss to get you a deal....
Small car - easy peasy Aygo (but no boot room) Yaris would be better. Or say a Fiesta - forget the KA, they have their problems, good deals on the Fiesta at the mo as new model coming out.
Don't buy French or Italian. The Citroen and Peugeot 'versions' of the Aygo are not as good and will not hold their price as well. French esp. have problems with wiring in particular, Citroens - you could get a paper cut from the bodywork..
If I had a daughter, I wouldn't want her in too small a car. I would prob chose a fiesta or a yaris, but would rather they went a tad bigger if I am honest, say a focus or a corolla (they don't make them anymore but liked them, sturdy).
I'd save getting her the Ferrari for at least a couple of years...
I've probably upset a few folk by voicing my opinions, but as said, they are my opinions.Genie

Anyway if people didn't have their reasons for buying new, the peole who like to buy seconh hand would run out of cars;)
Yes! I agree, I like other people to buy second hand then I have lots to choose from.Tinkerbell84 wrote:ah, but that's because they never go more than 40mph!!!! :rotfl:
My OH calls it 'eco driving' but I don't car 'cos I get 400 mile from a tank full:TDoing voluntary work overseas for as long as it takes .......
My DD might make the odd post for me0 -

I think everyone is going a bit slower now with the price of fuel:mad:
Even the boy racers seem to have slowed down:rolleyes:
I try not to ever let that revy thing go over 3, even when I'm changing up.0 -

I totally agree about really tiny cars, I prefer something no quite so tiny, but shes buying it (with a lump sum gift from us towards it) so its her choice & she wants tiny.
So for tiny its the Aygo, thats her fav choice any how:D
Japanese cars are great, they are super reliable (mine is Japanese:D ).
I must be getting alzhimers, not to ask you first anyway;)
If she was to get a Ka for £4,500 would it be worth it against an Aygo thats 2k more. Would you save that 2k on repairs, dep'n, servicing, resale, ect do you think?
The oddest thing about the last however many posts on this thread is that a certain few people seem to think they are ordained to tell others how they can & can't spend their honest hard earned cash:rolleyes:
I kept asking where it was that I had asked advice on what age car to buy:rotfl:0 -

Looking at the extent this probably started while the car was still in warranty!0 -
I know a couple of KA owners who absolutely love their cars and haven't had any problems at all with them. One is 5 years old (the car, not the owner!) and it has no rust on it at all. Couldn't say about the other, not seen them for a while. They may be basic, but they've been around for a while and all the gremlins should have been ironed out by now I guess. At the end of the day, it will come down to preference & which one she prefers!
Fiestas probably also worth a look as they are offering deals prior to the new one being launched. I also like the C1 / 107/ Aygo and would opt for the cheapest of the three since they're all built in the same factory.
Happy hunting!0
