Victors_Bruvver wrote:I have today taken Martin's advice to switch electricity provider. I used the energyhelpline.com website and switched from Powergen to British Gas.
However, I am a little concerned that energyhelpline.coms confirmation email only states the following, in tiny tiny letters, regarding the £12.50 cashback mentioned the comparison tables;
"NB. Any special offers will be redeemed or paid once your switch has gone live with your new supplier"
My worry is that a few months down the line I could simply forget that the £12.50 or the free month of electricity from BG has not been credited to my account and then have to prove that they was a cashback in force when I took out the switch. Call me an old sceptic, but has anyone dealt with these companies to switch their energy provider and get a cashback payment?
I too am concerned about the lack of reference to the £12.50 cashback on the website. I have followed Martin's advice and decided to switch but cannot find any reference to the cashback offer on the website anywhere.
Please would someone let me know where this can be found before I use their site to switch provider?
Many thanks!0 -
you need to use the link from Martin's article and you will then see the cashback offer on the website.0

I have looked at the Energyhelpline, UK Power, and SimplySwitch sites to compare electricity providers.
I noticed that some energy providers appear with an Apply button and some don't.
Do these comparison sites only pay cashback if the application can be initiated from their site?
On SimplySwitch, the detailed tarriff information for British Gas explains Your savings shown here include a £15, incl VAT, reduction in your first electricity bill.
Is that the £15 cashback?Dagobert0 -
Thanks for the tip Martin.
It looks like I can make significant savings by switching from Seeboard Dual Fuel.
Duel fuel with the cheapest providers was much cheaper than I'm currently paying, but cheaper still when choosing different providers for each.
I even followed the link and so found the 'hidden' cashback page.
That's a sneaky trick! Well done Martin for negotiating that special link for your website users!!!!

My first attempt to be a money saver, and I've failed before I start.
I've tried to use the comparison site, energyhelpline.com, but my exact
supplier & tariff isn't in the drop down menu (or the alternative list)
I'm currentlywith Scottish Power - Premier Plus package (duel fuel)
It hasn't got a capped price & I'm paying the standing charge.
I decided I'd just try completing the comparison using Scottish Power Standard, as none of the others were right, but the price per unit didn't work out !

Which is the closest tariff? I know it won't be exact but you could try that to give you an idea.0 -
Hello! Just wanting some help about switching as I'm on renewable energy electricity with Green Energy (not even listed on the comparison site) - is there any chance of a similar comapirson service for green energy sources? Wanting to do my bit and save a bit of cash!
