Finally decided to go with London Energy. A strange thing happens with simplyswitch though. When you get a quote by going direct to their website it includes London Energy but when you go via Matin's cashback link it excludes London Energy.!??!?!0

I am quite new to MSE and was looking at changing providers now the email has gone out. I've looked at my bill but can't understand how many KWh I use so went by price per month so hopefully it is still accurate. I was told to change from Powergen to Atlantic but it says Atlantic has standing charges whereas Powergen don't but what exactly are standing charges?0

Ah that's the difference!
When I tried simply switch first time it was through a google search - it included London Energy.
2nd time I went through Martin's link with the £15 cashback and London Energy Online had disappeared completely.0 -
Just re-reading the article Jem and it says it only offers cashback if it can initiate the switch, otherwise it can't cut you in.
Ah well it's only £2.50
and finally we've moved !!!0 -
I have today taken Martin's advice to switch electricity provider. I used the energyhelpline.com website and switched from Powergen to British Gas.
However, I am a little concerned that energyhelpline.coms confirmation email only states the following, in tiny tiny letters, regarding the £12.50 cashback mentioned the comparison tables;
"NB. Any special offers will be redeemed or paid once your switch has gone live with your new supplier"
My worry is that a few months down the line I could simply forget that the £12.50 or the free month of electricity from BG has not been credited to my account and then have to prove that they was a cashback in force when I took out the switch. Call me an old sceptic, but has anyone dealt with these companies to switch their energy provider and get a cashback payment?0 -
how long did it take for the email to arrive pls?0
-
Thanks Jem, mine has not arrived !!
I don't think somebody wants me to switch. Last time I tried, scottish power had put their capped prices while I was deliberating !!!
I still wish I had got SP as it least I wouldn't have to worry about it for another 2 years, this is very time consuming !0 -

Yep I know where you're coming from. I had applied for SP's capped price (at the old prices) and cancelled it when tough_ref told me about Discounted Electricity. When I had so many problems switching to it I really wished I had not cancelled it. However from memory it would have been about £200 dearer than London Energy Online are now offering.
I only hope I've made the right choice now.0 -
