So just to clarify please if I put my old contract 02 sim in an old 2g iphone it will work ok?

I have a very old contract called pay up front for life, back when 02 was BTcellnet.

I have 50 anytime mins every month for free. As long as I dont go over I dont pay anything at all.

I havent paid 1p for the use of my phone for the last few years, as you can imagine I dont use it for outgoing calls much just incoming.

But if I pay 7.50 bolt on can I get that internet thing on iphone and that fair useage thing means within reason no limit?

this seems to be about the 'cheapest' way to get the new Iphone 3G S:

Pre order on mobiles.co.uk - They are a part of Carphone Warehouse. Go via quidco and get £60 cashback.

Have just spotted this offer too and wonder does anyone know if you can use to upgrade? I am trying to get through to ask them but no answer so far! I had a 2g iphone and my original contract expired last month.

I like the idea of pre-order and the cashback - only way I would go via Carphone Warehouse again!

I had a Pay Upfront For Life contract and was told you couldn't have any Internet with that tariff.

Any rumours that the 3g iPhone will be reduced on Pay-as-you-Go as the previous 2g iPhone was?

Previously purchased a 2g Iphone (when you didn't have to register), jailbroke and unlocked it and have been enjoying it on Orange ever since. Would love to move up to the 3g version, which with the new 3.0 will be virtually the same as the 3g S.

The O2 contracts are absolutely ridiculous !!!!!

i doubt it given that the new iphone starts at £440 on PAYG - I guess you could probably pick up one on ebay from someone upgrading to the 3gS. I imagine O2 are thinking they can justify the PAYG price by adding 12 months unlimited web and wifi. Then again if you are patient and wait a couple of months you never know...........

Just wondering if someone might be able to help me, I've read quite a lot of stuff on here about will the Iphone work with different SIM cards, tariffs, jail breaking etc etc. I brought an Iphone 3G 8GB off Ebay a few days ago, its brand new in the box and locked to o2 still. I have put my SIM card in ( which is a 3G one ) and it works fine. I am on a Simplicity rolling tariff for £19.58 a month ( 600 anytime mins,1000 free text and unlimited WIFI bolt on which i chose at the start of it ) I am debating on ringing up o2 and asking if i can add the web bolt on to my simplicity. Do i need both the unlimited WIFI and web bolt on for the Iphone?? Or would i need a PAYG sim? I'm just a tad confused:confused: by it all so if anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

You only need the web bolt on. The wifi bolt on is essentially useless unless everywhere you go has The Cloud or BT OpenZone access points.

Well there is quite a lot of places that use them two. So all i would need to do is swap wifi over to the web bolt on?

Yes, or have both. But you're going to get a 3G connection in a lot more places than wifi.

Answering my own query in case anyone is interested

Mobiles.co.uk dont offer the iphone as an upgrade option yet so cannot get the £60 cashback - booo! No doubt they might in a few weeks time but I cant wait that long!! Have already been waiting months as damaged my iphone and got the insurance money in April for a replacement - patiently waited to see if new phone released before I replaced it.
