Can I get a better iphone deal from 02 by trading in my Nokia95 8gb?
  • GGGGGGGGGGGAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This has been covered several times before. Phone insurance is a waste of money. Speak to your home insurers (contents) and check to see if you have "away from home" or "personal possessions" cover (same thing - different name). If you do, they are probably covering your phone anyway so just ask them to confirm this. If you don't have the cover, ask for 2 quotes:

    1. To add the Personal Possessions cover with £3,000 limit & including the phone
    2. To add the phone only

Both quotes will include an admin charge, so ask what this is - it's a fee you pay to cover the costs of providing the paperwork so is only a one-off. Sometimes, for your own peace of mind, it's worth having the phone specified anyway. This should cost you a couple of pounds only (after the admin charge).

The excess on PP cover is usually £50, so double that of the mobile phone insurance. The cost, however, is lower and the cover better. Mobile phone insurance does not cover theft whilst unattended (ie, you are in a cafe and leave your bag on the table whilst going to pay and come back to find it's been stolen). PP cover not only insures your phone, but your bag and its contents too!!

    STOP WASTING MONEY!!!!!!!

Thanks a lot and sorry I haven't seen this before.
Will check when I get home from work. :money:

I've been thinking about a move away from O2 to either Vodafone or Three. Both of their coverage maps showed good cover however I decided to get PAYG SIM's from each to try it out. I have a strong signal from O2. Vodafone was also good however Three had virtually no signal - thought they were supposed to have the best 3G network so this was a surprise.

It sounds obvious but if you're thinking of changing carrier do check your local coverage using an actual SIM before committing to a long term contract.

    Again

Hi, thought of getting an iphone 8GB 3GS with 3 for £30 for 24 months and maybe downgrading within the contract period.

I dont know if this is old but the online help said there is £10 charge for downgrading and you can only downgrade after half the life period of the contract.

I was kind of put off by this £10 charge which I dont think is fair for the customer

You dont think its fair? do you think 3 would think you taking a contract out with the intention of downgrading is fair?

Just purchased an iphone with orange on a 24 month contract.

Only to find their insurance has gone up from £6 on my nokia to £12 on an iphone.

Anyone know anywhere cheaper to insure your iphone thanks....

    Try protectyourbubble.com/ip-iphone-insurance.html

they offer iphone insurance for £5.99 per month, there is a £50 excess and an additional £25 loss charge for iPhones though. I don't know what the excess is with the networks, but it is worth considering.

Do you want an 18 month or 24 month contract?

Tesco do an unlimited iphone 3GS deal on a 24 month contract for £45 per month, that seemed pretty good to me compared to the other networks. Fair use policy applies

From a customer point of view yes I dont think its fair and also because some other operators allow you to downgrade for free.
