Can't make my mind up on Bathroom - DIY or professionals?

Congrats on the radiator.
I'm putting my Tap Woe down to pure bad luck... the taps themselves can't be faulted - apart from the damage!0 -
Nice one..though really annoying that the original winning bidder bid up the price of your towel rail by £41! (i just couldn't resist a peek!) . Looks good though and you got a 5 year bristan guarantee...hope you realise it's different to the one in the picture with different number of rails though!
Your ebay account is way more active than mine...i've only got 52 feedback since june 2001 and had about 4 bad experiences in all ...so you see why i might be more wary! Nice car by the way
Andy
Actually that account is my FILs
He's addicted to ebay and put the first bid on the rad before I had much of a chance to think
They are also home more, so it'll be easier having it delivered there than to ours - or we'll probably have to end up picking it up from the courier.
Yeah, after years ago when the big cons of people selling Xbox's and then in the smallprint at the bottom would be text saying that you only win the box, not the console, I am very careful about reading what the deal is.
The rad isn't technically a Bristan. It's a John Sydney, which I found on a pdf on the 2007 catalog. It also confirmed the BTU rating in the catalog for the 1200mm x 500 mm rad.
Fingers crossed for a safe delivery.
So Phirefly, whats the plan with the taps? Got to return them?
I really hope my stuff comes undamaged. I reckon I'll get it delivered a week Monday, giving 2 weeks to sort out any problems.0 -

Yep, what a bind. Apparently my replacement will be here next week. Its just a bit of a pain as our fitter is starting work on monday and he requested that all the parts be present so he can plan his schedule. I'm sure it won't be too much of a problem, but we're already having to work around the missing basin...
As for ebay, I'm a veteran. I swear by it. You just get a feel for a legit item/seller, and the only problem I've ever had was when I received some blatently fake Air Max 95s that were not even the same ones on the photo in the listing. Soon got that sorted though. We've got our bath, shower, toilet, towel rail and floor tiles from ebay. Of those, only the toilet was a direct win on an auction, all the rest we spoke to the sellers direct and Mr. P got them to do a deal. They'll cut loads off the buy it now prices/reserves if you deal direct.0 -

Oo thats flash. When's your installation due to start?0 -
Tiling domestic is £25 per m2 plus cost of tiles. professionally fitted. plumbing should take no more than one day 8 hrs. tops for a good fitter £200...so who ever is quoting you has a good margin at £25000

Exactly the reason I wouldn't get a chrome one ever again - life really is too short to be cleaning fingerprints off lol0 -
we'll have to be going to OH's parents house for showers and washing at kitchen sink
Mr P and I have been having showers at the Gym, which has been handy...
Day 2....
The toilet's in, I was only without one for about 5 hours. Floor's down, ceilings plastered, walls been re-boarded and pipes chased in for the basin. But the biggest leap forward you can't appreciate from this snap - we finally have an external soil stack after 4 and a half years of talking about it. Hurrah.
Just when I thought all the components were ordered and sorted, we had an about-turn last night. All along, Mr Phirefly's wanted a bath screen, whereas I've plumped for a shower curtain. I've finally conceeded the point today and he's got his way... cue another day of shopping around/comparing prices/twisting arms over delivery dates....0
