Can't make my mind up on Bathroom - DIY or professionals?

Yes, that timeframe includes tiling 3/4 of the walls and the floor... The only thing they're not doing is painting the ceiling and small portions of wall that aren't tiled. I almost took leave of my senses and thought about papering these, but apart from Mr.P having a coronary if I were to suggest such madness, I thought it would probably have very impractical in such a small bathroom.0

Not bad for £109
...still time and not too expensive to change your mind then!
It'll be awkward to stand exactly at the base of the slope and the flat part of the bath is shortened so that a tall person won't lie comfortably in it. It'll be more troublesome to exchange once the tiles go over.0 -
No I won't be changing my mind... the bath is perfect for our needs.0

what an interesting thread.
i've just got 2 plumbers round to quote to refit my bathroom. remove old stuff and fit new bath, loo, sink, shower & enclosure, only tile around shower as large room.
one plumber is just starting out, ex-RAF engineer, and very shy! he wont buy the suite but handed me a screwfix brochure... hum...he quoted £720 for labour and grout ect.
the other company will source the suite but he tried to up the spec on everthing. i'm waiting for the quote...
after reading through here i'm off to MFI to look at Twyford's range - if its good enough for you lot, and the queen, it should please the OH! thanks.Relax, Breathe, Love 2014 Challenges:Cross Stitch Cafe Challenger 23. Frugal Living Challenger. No buying cleaning products. I used MSE advice to reduce my car insurance from 550 to 325!! & paid it off in full!!!0 -
Thanks for the update. It may be taking you longer, but at least you're picking up skills and experience that will stay with you forever...0

Bathroom arrived today. Bath, toilet and sink are perfect, but my taps/shower etc have problems. Some have tiny scratches. Maybe I'm being fussy but I know it will bother me, so I'm sending them back. Got 2 weeks to sort it out, so hopefully it'll work out in the end. This is why I prefer to buy from a shop. It's easier to go in, than to worry about sending them back in the post.0

My bathroom photo album here: http://s328.photobucket.com/albums/l332/andrew-b-diy/Bathroom/
..not really had a chance to sort through all the pics yet to filter out poor ones or add notes to them.

Nice one Andy. Couldn't persuade you to do a blog then eh :rotfl: Never mind, it's good to see the progress you're making and looking forward to your notes.0 -

You must be getting excited. I've officially Had Enough now. Its at that break through the pain barrier stage. I can't even be bothered to post a progress photo such is my apathy. Obviously it doesn't help that I'm working from home and my studio is next to the bathroom and everything is covered in dust. I'm contracting in-house tomorrow, I was dreading it, but I'm actually looking forward to getting out of here!0 -
Even though my bathroom cost a lot to get the fitters in at least it was fitted within a week. This post seems to have been going on for ages and I cannot imagine what it would be like to live for months without a bathroom.
Good luck to you all though.
I would certainly avoid most things from MFI and also bath suites from Ebay or Plumbworld unless it is branded stuff IMHO.
Our Roca stuff has been a really good buy yet freinds who have DIY shed stuff has gone wrong quickly0 -

This post has sort of stuck around and drifted from the original post
There's just a group of us that keep updating with our bathroom progress, it started back before I was even getting quotes, so we haven't been bathroomless all that time
I saw your post on before/after photos. I thought that was a good idea, but I saw it got moved today to the Arms.
Now it seems really out of context over there, so I don't see why it couldn't stay here. 0
