  • Handheld shower? Is that what is in the far corner? I thought it was a shampoo bottle! :)

What are the measurements of your bathroom Phirefly?

Yeah thats right, the chrome thing in the corner. Our bathroom is about 1650x1950, we have a 1700 bath along the 1650 wall that is chopped into the wall either end.

Well done Andy, hope you soon recover and can get a bit more done.

Was the previous occupant quite tall and needed to higher the basin on the brick plinth? I'm only 5'5" but wouldn't mind our present pedestal basin being a bit higher.

There doesn't seem to be much elbow room where the basin was. Is the new basin going there or can you move the loo over to there?

Nice to have a delivery isn't it? You can sit and stroke it and admire it until you're ready to start again :rotfl:

Andy, you're worse than me for staying up late at night :rotfl:

We want a vanity unit in our new bathroom but haven't found the right one yet. Or rather, don't like the ones in the right price bracket and don't want to pay the price for the ones we do like! There's a nice one in B & Q but it's gloss red and we don't want that.

I'd like a wall hung unit, about 100cm/110cm, and a basin to sit on top, not recessed. The builder said he should be able to hide the pipework so wall hung may be possible. I also would like it to be wenge or maybe walnut, I want dark, with a couple of drop down doors/drawers for the cupboards. I was wondering about trying to find a kitchen unit or the wood to make it, but it's still at the planning stage at the moment. No hurry yet, plenty of other things on the list to get sorted.

Hope you get a good weekend in.
  • It feels like its all going wrong :(

The bath and sink has been removed (since monday). Today we had to rebuild our wall because it wasn't deep enough for the shower fittings.

There's concern over the toilet but wont really know until it gets fitted.

The pipework is all ready for the new sink, bath and radiator.

Fingers crossed the wall we built today will be good enough and the bath can be fitted tomorrow.

    It's all a nightmare really.

Oh dear, you'll get there in the end.

BTW I was thanking you for updating, it only struck me afterwards it might sound as if I was glad you were having probs, :o which isn't the case at all.

I was lucky enough to be out of the house at caravan when bathroom was fitted. DH was here, but since everything going in same places the new loo was in by time he got back from work.

Hope that your new wall is up to scratch and that everything goes on smoothly now. I think most jobs have that crucial hitch that makes you feel dreadful, but once that's over it gets easier.

    Best of luck! :D
  • Thanks maggie!

The wall is rock solid now, so if it's not good enough then I don't know what I'll do!

The plumber has fit the bath now. I daren't go up to see what else he's doing. I'll wait till the end of the day.

I think the tiler is coming tomorrow. I'm dreading that as I'm sure he's going to uncover more problems (probably things like the tiles are too heavy for the walls or something). It's best that I remain pessimistic. :)

    Nice window sill andy :)

Sit tight - you know I know how you feel! It'll all work out in the end :)
  • Thanks Phirefly. This is by far the worst feeling I've had. I didn't feel like this when the electrics/boiler/plastering was being done.

I bet this is going to be similar when the kitchen (one day) gets done.

We have £1500 to refit an entire bathroom and tile floor and walls.

How are you getting on budget-wise?
