Hi, i know its early in the morning, and i had a late night, but whats a whoops ticket???

    Hi MUMOF4
Sorry but I have not been on for a few days. A whoops ticket is when goods are reduced to clear due to their expiry date. My local asda takes things right down to about 10p/bag if you happen to time it just right
Another thing I do with some fruits is freeze them - esp berries, grapes or bananas - you can then eat little fruity 'ices' or put them into pies or through yogurt when you want them
I always have a good look at the whoops aisle - anything freezable goes straight in the basket!

  • Hi, what size tin/dish do you use for your lasagna?
    Panda on My Shoulder

If you can make it cheaper do so. If it's not reduced, in Primark, off ebay or free I can't have it

    Well done MUMOF4,

I am trying to do all our grocery shopping on approx £50 p/w and that is for 2 adults and 2 growing boys (1 of whom is a hollow legged teenager).

This does include an organic veg box weekly,a delivery from the milkman, and farm eggs; but most other items I buy are value/basic/smart price depending on which shop I go to.

I bake the majority of our bread/cakes etc, we very rarely have takeaway usually a treat from a different budget.

I make quite a bit of jam/chutney depending on what fruits I can forage, veggies have need using.

We do eat meat for most dinners but alot are mince based bulked out with oats (400g mince add in 2 good handfulls oats makes 6-8 good portions).

I always freeze extra portions and leftovers and then probably once a month we have a "leftovers night", using up all the individual portions of things especially if DH hasn't been taking them to work for lunch instead of sandwiches;just need to possibly add some chips or garlic bread and salad and got a full dinner for next to nothing.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

When you have the shopping delivered, does that mean that they pick the goods out for you without you having to go near the shop, or do you leave your trolley in the store, and they take it home for you?
It's just that most of the food I buy is from the reduced section, my freezer is full of things that have been reduced, like Kingsmill for 15p a loaf, pasta sauce I've made with veg reduced to a few pence, etc.
I just can't imagine Tesco selling food at these prices online, somehow :)

hi, Yes when i do my tesco shopping, i do it from home, and someone else picks it all for me. I know that i miss out on the reduced things shopping like it this way, but i am a terrible impulse buyer, and pick up to many but one get one frees, that I do not need! I tend to shop like this every other week, one week tesco, one week lidls. I like getting lots of fruit and veg from lidls, as it is usually same price as you can pick up at the market, and tends to keep for longer. We can get soya milk in there now, which makes it easier to do our entire shop there, yellow split peas are cheap, as are yogurts, olive oil, butter, and they do the most amazing sun dried tomatoes in oil, for just over a £1, and other yummy things in oil, like peppers, and olives. My 3 yr old loves olives.Bread flour always amazes me, it was 49p in there last week, really cheap.

I find using Asda online , I can cut a huge amount off the bill. If I see the list in writing it somehow makes me a lot meaner ....:)

    Tuna and sweetcorn lasagne.

    8 value lasagne sheets
    1 tin tuna
    1 400g tin sweetcorn
    1 pt vegetable stock
    1 garlic clove
    1 onion diced
    1/2pt milk.
    1 1/2oz flour
    2 tablespoons of butter

    .

    Hi Mumof4 :hello:

I make something similar for my lot with the addition of mushrooms but I'm confused about your measurements. Is it really just 1 tin of tuna and 8 lasange sheets for 6 people?
