  • i got one from maplin last week.

Its excellent, and i ordered a new remote (SKY) from letsautomate.co.uk / .com, for £9.

Now i can watch sky in bed. The Mrs doesnt like it though, as i keep changing channels in the bedroom, so he has to watch what i have put on in the living room

    :D

Oh by the way, they operate at 2.4ghz,so if you have a Wireless LAN, becareful as it knockes the TV transmission out

Can someone please explain what these av senders actually do. ???
I'm looking into this for my sister :)
My parents have Sky in their living room and my poor old sister only has 5 channels in her bedroom.
Are there lots of wires and bits to connect?
Dont laugh I'm not very into all thes gadgets :-[

We have a wireless connection for main computer and laptop - does this mean that the video sender wont work. Want to connect it to tv in room where wireless router is

Wireless Video Senders, Dect Phones and 802.1b/g wifi devices use the 2.4Ghz spectrum. Not to mention what a microwave oven will chuck out.

Therefore it is possible that they might interfere with each other, but most of these pieces of equipment are designed to cope with a certain amount of interference.

WiFi access points usually lets you set the channel to use, and by moving channels you will probably be able to skip any bad interference.

So I suspect you won't have any problems, and in a real world scenario you are unlikely to be using the network heavily whilst watching tv tucked up in bed and talking on the phone.

    YMMV - Rufus.
  • thats true, we hardly ever have the wifi and TV on simultaneously. However, with mine, if both are working together, the TV picture degrades quite considerably. I've noticed this with some others that friends and family are using.

I have tried adjusting any of the settings, as to be honest, like mentioned, they are hardly ever on togehter

    cheers

We often have everything going at same time - kids wandering in and out on digital cordless phone, one playing on computer, other watching tv in same room etc , so think we could get interference
  • Can someone explain please how you can change channel if your upstairs, am I right in thinking this unit send the picture/sound only, so what evers on downstairs you'll watch upstairs and if you want to change the channel you have to go down stairs to do it? Thanx

Once its set up just use the remote, say its plugged into your sky box take the sky remote into whatever room the receiver is in and change channels using that.
