The IR mouse thing needs to be positoined in front of the unit its supposed to control (e.g. skybox). On the front of a normal skybox there is a symbol like this
o
\ \//
\ / (but curves, not v shapes)
This is the IR receiver and it needs to "see" the IR mouse which transmits a replica of the signal from your remote.
Make sure you plug the inline scart cable directly into the back of the sky box (not at the end of a cable as that stopped it working for me).
So you have
Skybox----SCART plug->SCART LEAD->TV or VCR
/\ |
| \/
---- GigaAir unit
if this works you can try hanging it off your VCR in the same way so you can have sky and watch tapes.
Make sure that both units are set to the same channel ::)
I tried one of these and it had a nice picture but distorted sound (may have just been a faulty one).
Now use a tesco's one which has clear picture & sound but seems more susceptable to minor ineteference when someone walks between the units (only 15 feet apart in two bedrooms).
Hope this makes sense, or that someone can explain it better than me0 -
P.S. If you're not getting a picture at all, its more than just the I/R mouse (that's just for changing channels). Is your 2nd TV tuned correctly (usually just press A/V on 2nd TV remote).0

Thanks for reply - I will try it. Have to do it when other half is out of house as it is a surprise for him.0

People who are having problems with the IR eye, be aware that the first one I got had a duff IR dongle thingey.
I now have 2 of the tesco's senders in my house
1 - Set on channel 1 and plugged into the back of the DVD to send DVD and Freeview into the bedroom
2 - Set on channel 4 and plugged into the back of my pc to send my pc signal (divx videos) to my amp in the lounge and into the bedroom (when receiver number one os switched to 4)
Things to be wary of before buying:-
Microwave ovens scramble the signal completley when they are cooking (well my Dewoo one does)
Bluetooth also interferes with the signal, so you can't use your wireless headset in the same roomI'm Not A Dog But I May Be Mad0 -
I bought a Ferguson AV Sender yesterday from Dixons, 2 scrat sockets on the back of my Sky receiver, unplugged DVD player to get started...all set up OK on the 2nd TV and lovely picture can be seen, remote also works..only problem is that I lose picture on my main TV. Unplug transmitter scart from Sky box and picture returns to main TV but is lost from 2nd TV...can anyone help me out??0

Hi Tony,
Apologies if these are vague ramblings as I don't have a Sky box, or the Ferguson AV sender however from my Freeview box.
The sender needs to be connected to the VCR Scart of the Sky/freeview box, as this allows you to send RGB to the TV, but composite to the sender.
If there is a problem with the sender cable, or something else is connected to the VCR scart then it might be causing the Sky box to switch to scart passthrough. For example relaying what it can see on the VCR scart to the TV (i.e. nothing). Worth looking at the sky menus and seeing if there is an option to turn off auto-scart switching (or whatever they call it).
If you are using an upstairs TV remote whilst testing this *might* be causing the sky box to "hear" the upstairs remote (via the sender) and misinterpret the code as meaning for it. For example I have seen reports of a TV on/off button on a remote being confused by Sky in to switching from RGB to composite.
I suspect that it is an RGB vs Composite issue, so worth adjusting the TV settings to see if you can force it to look for composite on the scart input. Not ideal, but may help with diagnostics.
If all else fails, simplify the wiring as much as possible, and experiment. What worked best for me was to buy a cheap Scart splitter (from Tesco) to allow my VCR and sender to share the same scart connection on the Freeview box.

Thanks for this Rufus, will give it a go.0

Me again...purchased a 3 in 1 scart splitter from Argos as no Tesco near office. Have tried pretty much every cable format but still no luck! have tried to switch off scart control from sky settings, again with no luck. After reading all the various post's there was me thinking it would be nice and easy but, not in this case. So same situation, can get picture in 1 room but not in both...any more advice would be very much appreciated.0

Sorry, can't really think of anything. Seeing as other people haven't had problems connecting it up I'd say there may be a fault somewhere. Either with the sky box, or the sender!
There's a sky technical forum at Digital spy which may be able to help, you'll need to register to post though, and provide techie details (make/model of sky box, and exactly what you've got plugged in to where).
