i have been ringing and ringing the tax credits since beginning of August and still cant get through. I am so stressed, i sent my forms out, only heard back from them by letter, that my money has stopped and that is it!!! i ring and ring waisting valuable money on credit and all i get is 'all advisors are busy, phone bck another time' or it rings out for 10mins. I am in debt upto my eyes now, i have lent so much money of people they cant lend me no more. Now i have baliffs coming to my house, and i am struggling to feed my kids:mad: and none of my bills are being paid. Tax credits need to sort this out its not fair on people who try and get through and are getting hung up on!!!! i also went to DWP and they said they couldnt give me a crisi loan as it is the tax credits who are not paying me, to ask tax cred's for hardship. How can i if i cant get through to them. I have worked it out that they owe me upto £800, when am i going to recieve it!!!!!!!:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:0

This number gets straight through and whoever answers can deal with any queries on WFTC. They will ask you some unusual security questions so be prepared as they usually relate to your records held with Experian. Good luck all

Its a miracle a bloody miracle.... Anyone who is having trouble getting through to tax credits on the
0845 300 3900 number ring this alternative number as stated in previous posts 0845 300 3600 I did as i pretty much had nothing to lose and......I only had to wait 6mins for an advisor NO being told press blah blah number etc.... I didnt get asked where i got the number from (some ppl did though in some previous posts)
I only answered the usual security questions.
So on the whole the 3600 number has lifted a weight off my shoulders big time, the operater was very helpful too even told me how much i was entitled to due to my change of cicumstances....
1st being my 18 yr old staying in full time education.
2nd being I started employment on 6th sept doin 20hrs per week ( I was claiming Income Support)
I hope this really helps anyone as it did me....Im off to spread the word now....woohoo lol0 -
I have just used the 0845 300 3600 number and got thru after just two rings. It has taken me since the 19th july to speak to them again - all over my surname changing and bank details. Thankyou to the original poster of this telephone number

AT LAST .... I got through today!!
Using the normal number ending in 3900 i rang at 8.45 when the majority is probably taking their children to school. I got the usual automated rubbish and was worried i was about to get cut off so pressed the # button and then was put in a que. I had to wait about 10 - 15 mins then a real live human spoke to me!
They had not received the letter i sent them about my 16 yr old returning to sixth form and so would recalculate the award but said they did not know how long it would take.“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
After a week of trying I went into my local tax office and called on one of their phones through an internal number, I had to wait on hold but I got through within about 10 minutes. Do not all tax offices do this?0

Hi op . If you read through this entire thread you will notice that most people are only waiting 1 week to have their payments recalculated.
Some people have also been reporting "strange" amounts being paid into their account i.e , my own payments this week were £17 less than it has been every week since i renewed in May and i was £120 short last week which doesnt seem to have been paid back to me...
Just awaiting my paperwork coming so i can check what exactly is going on.0 -
I too have been trying to contact the Tax Credits 'helpline' since my 16 year old son returned to sixth form. I have been trying from 8am until 8 pm at various points of the day.
In the middle of a baking session, I decided to try again. 2pm on a Friday afternoon - was I mad? (probably!)
I was 'delighted' to have actually made the queue and waiting around 15 minutes to speak to a lovely lady at the other end of the phone!
All done but it didn't half take some perseverance and patience!0 -

Called the 3600 number and got through to someone, they were initially trying to get out of taking the call but when I explained I'd incurred over £25 worth of call charges over the last few months reporting various changes and wanted to speak to a manager if they wouldn't deal with me (or put me in a que to the helpline!) they conceeded.
When I'd updated my details I did actually ask to speak to a manager to log a complaint about the call charges (I'm with virgin media and on my bill it shows that it costs 18p on the occasions where I've got the sorry we are busy message, and 27p when I got as far as the options but got cut off. Over a 2 day period I ran up over £15 worth of calls not getting through. The manager could not really answer the question as to why the phones don't just come up as engaged rather than charging you each time, or what happens to the money which is being made from the calls. They have said they will respond to my complaint within 3 days (how likely will that be!!!). My MP has also failed to respond to my complaint about calls charges and being unable to get through.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has complained about these issues to either tax credits or their MP - would be usful to know what responce others have had.
I spent the last 2 days calling the 3900 number every 10 minutes then found the 3600 number got answered in less than a minute and I got my change of circumstances sorted straight away.
I have spent around £20 in calls in the last couple of months as some of the calls were 20-30 minutes long. Add another £10-20 for the 2 days I've wasted calling the 3900 number to get the pre-recorded 'all our advisors are busy' message after 1 minute. This needs to be sorted.0 -
