i knew about stopping eggs but not cheese and butter. just blinkin wish it didnt take a week to go for the other test!
my chloresterol is high too, I was told that any fat that's solid when cold was a no no. I'm now taking statins and on a low carb, low fat diet until next blood test at end of Sept ie 3 months after the first

Pebbles, as Marie says, don't worry. If you do find from the test that you've got high cholestrol, you'll be able to do something about it and it can often be sorted in a few months by a change in diet.... porridge is a good one, plus lots of fruit, veggies, wholemeal bread etc, and cutting right back on high fat stuff like dairy, meat, cakes, bickies, and prawns for some reason. You'll probably get called in for a chat with a dietician/nurse who'll talk you through what you should/shouldn't be eating, which is helpful. I was told not to eat more than a "matchbox" size piece of cheese a week.... would have gone through that on just one sarnie previously without thinking about it!!

Thanks, Yes i had heard that prawns are quite high in cholestrol (a friends partner suffered yrs back), i would have thought they would be quite healthy, just goes to show how you never know!

Im not a huge fan of cooked porridge but i do like soaked oats, will they count too as they arent cooked?? (dont suppose twinks hobnobs count either  LOL)

the only dairy i really have is skimmed milk and full fat activia yogs now (i cant stand the taste of the fat free ones), i will stop the cheese too... :o

Okay I'm not sure whether this is a confession or a rant... my scales have turned out to be inaccurate! Because I wasn't altogether happy about weighing 13st 12 this morning, so I got on them again at 4pm... and I'm 13st 6. I don't really know what I weigh! But I have to go to have my blood pressure checked on Tuesday anyway so I'll find out an accurate figure then.

I'd buy some new ones, but I don't want to spend on anything house-y when we want to put the house on the market next month, so I shall make do with the current ones until we have a new house and some money :)

Right now I'm a bit confused and frustrated at the same time, and feel like banging my head on the desk...

This is the information sheet that my doctor gave me.
I have been diagnosed with familial cholesterol which means that I will take statins from now on as my liver produces too much cholesterol, not related too much with my diet.

    Hope it helps

    Morning ladies:hello:

I'm suprisingly clear headed today despite several large gins last night :o
I think today is the day to start looking after myself. OH has gone off 'to get some space' and the way I feel at the moment I don't want him to come back!

I've got a appointment at the hairdressers in a bit (which I can't afford but what the h*ll:rolleyes: ) I'm going to have a face pack in a minute and paint my nails, I've got plenty of nice, healthy food in the fridge and will start the day with porridge with raisins and almonds. Lunch will probably be soup and fruit.
    Tea........I'll decide that later.
Plenty of exercise today in the form of walking seeing as how I have no car

Alexilesey - I always weigh first thing in the morning, it's quite normal for your weight to vary 4 or 5 pounds throught the day, I always weigh at least 4lbs heavier in the evening.

See you later folks, off to slap gunk on my face

Rockie...hugs, enjoy your 'me' day...you're worth it! Another listening shoulder here should you need it.

Frogga...keep humming..works on the unconscious mind to reinforce desire to lose weight.

    B 1 weetabix and a banana, water;
    L.. BLT, coffee:
D...will be home made pizza and some fruit
    S. Lots of water and more fruit or veg...if very hungry some home made chicken veg soup.

Didn't have any extra fruit, or soup but had 2 slices brown bread with hummous

Is the stuff your liver produces called Triglycerides...if so have a look at this
