Morning all :D

Hope everyone is feeling a bit better this morning...

Huby has just gone to his golf competition -so once again im gonna park my bum on the sofa and x stitch soon :j

Meals today:-
1. brekkie -just had 30g meusli with hm hatural yogurt
2. mid morn- jelly with cherries
3. lunch - gonna slice n roast a couple of smaller sweet potatoes with a drizzle of balsamic and have a bit of goats cheese with it .ooohhh and kraut salat...oooh and tomatoes -have lots from the garden;)
4. mid afternoon -plums
5. dinner - jacket potato with cottage cheese n salad -i will have sweet potato
6. supper -25g seed/nut/fruit
Toni - I don't know about the hand mincer/sausage maker ..i have an electric one-and its my baby :rotfl: it only has to come out every couple of months or so..because i make a couple of big batches of 2 different kinds at a time -so they last ages..
Hubby adores them.. they are great as you know exactly what is in there.. I only use meat, herbs n seasoning.. I don't even use the fillers/stabilisers -so they are a much different texture to others. I think last time i priced them up they worked out at about 5p each -and that was for fat sausages not chipolatas:T plus you are satisfied eatong less as they are pure meat ;)

Im all over the place with my days..does anyone else have the same problem when their OH is off work? it really throws my routine...i would have sworn today was thursday  still-on the upside it means i have an extra day until weigh in :rotfl: ...

Hopefully if the weather allows we are going to that animal park tomorrow-(the free one).. going to pack a picnic... all "good" stuff of course :p ..apparently its quite a trek around that place -so that should do me some good :j
I was saying to hubby yesterday that it shows how easy it is to spend/waste money if you aren't thinking about it...
• if i had been a lazy bum the other day and had a gyros -€15
• if we went to the safari park instead of the free one €46
• eating out instead of a picnic -even if just a sandwich -say €10 -(and im being coservative there:p )
So we could have easily spent €71 (about £56)in 3 days that we didn't need to
so its free animal park and picnic tomorrow :T plus lots of exercise -which i need right now :o

right i had better get off..have a great day everyone and keep up the good work :T Its great to see how this community is growing -whilst shrinking -if that makes sense :rotfl:

Blast! Had it all in my mind what I was going to say, then the phone went & one of the offspring came in to chat  so now I've forgotten who it was, talking about strange peeps looking in the mirror at you!

I took me muvva to her gp surgery the other day & as usual had nowhere to park. A lady was stood waiting for her husband, who had also had to park elsewhere. She told me that when she came over to say there where no spaces, but then--without drawing a second breath--she says "Is your name C?"

So I looked at her sorta sideways & sez "Yeerr-eezz?" & she smiled & said " Thought so! I was your teacher, Mrs A!" ......my INFANT school teacher:eek: ....don't know whether to be flattered or deflated, to know I still look the same as I did 45 YEARS ago---only taller:rotfl:

One of my hits of the year is currently on the tv & the offspring & I have decided it's cuz I'm a closet rock-chick petrol-head whose NEVER EVER conformed to female stereotype..I kept me muvva in nightmares for 18mths leading up to actually choosing my wedding outfit, cuz she was convinced I was sticking to my white bike leathers idea:rotfl: :rotfl:

I had my dress made by a very competent neighbour who read my mind & transformed my vision into reality; my headress was reduced cuz it was shop soiled I]sign of things to come?[/I but still it was the one I wanted......me muvva STILL sez I could've had summat better if I'd let her & dad help me pay for it.....why can't she just accept I had what I wanted:cry:

Soz :o went a bit O/T, but just wondering if that's why I have such a rubber waistline... cuz food doesn't ever judge me & sits there waiting to say 'S'ok..I'll always be here for you!"....bit deep innit? Sorry!

Lainie - don't forget, sometimes a sts week can mean a bigger loss next week (or maybe that's just becuase it makes you more determined!)

newlywed - the book sounds like ti could be really helpful but, like you, don't think i'm ready for that at the moment!

ok - a reasonable day for me yesterday, had steamed salmon with thai coleslaw last night (had a bagel with a bit of cheese when i got in as we were eating late and hadn't had anything since lunch, but no carbs with tea so hope that's ok!)

today:
b - branflakes, allbran and a few sultanas with skimmed milk
l - lefover thai coleslaw with some prawns (have just discovered how low fat/cal prawns are, how did i never know this!) and a wholemeal pitta
d - not sure, maybe a chickpea dish

have a great day everyone!

Just returned from a week in Cornwall/Devon with DD1 and SIL and BIL. Slightly off-course foodwise but otherwise STS.
Just had my first blood test and BP test since being diagnosed with familial high cholesterol ( a faulty gene) and ten days on medication. All seems to be going well. Thank goodness.

Gadgets - a plenty - husband buys them, but I do use them.
Breadmaker
Microwave (3 including a very small one we take camping)
Kettle
Juicer (brilliant)
Kenwood
(30 years old) normally on loan to daughter at Uni who loves making cakes, but at home now
Stick blender - brilliant
Food processor - not used a great deal
Jug blender - smoothies and soups (Tesco cheapie)
Electric BBQ/grill - used instead of a charcoal one - so not often
racelet - comes out occasionally - fun to use
Pancake/ griddle electric - scotch pancakes and dhosa so used sometimes
Popcorn maker - sometimes
pasta maker - rarely used - 20 years old
rice cooker - regularly used
slow cooker - regularly used
coffee grinder - sometimes used (30 years old)
toaster/egg poacher - toaster used daily - egg every now and then
egg boiler - daughter takes it to Uni
Expresso maker - gift, used daily
Mincer - 30 years old, rarely used but the suction cup thing was useful in installing the windows!!!
Small table top oven - daily as we have no large oven
Camping fridge - as Christmas overflow
George forman grill - sometimes but nearly now non-stick!
Sandwich toaster - daughter takes to Uni
Pressure cooker - used quite often, less now with slow cooker
hand held rotary whisk - 30 years old, overtaken by stick blender
brass jam pan - at least 80 years old - still used

Items that I had that broke and wouldn't replace:-
Electric carving knife
Electric can opener
Slicer

Small items that work well.. grapefruit spoon,
very small grater (about 1" high) ideal for the table,
spray oil
very small long handled whisk (ideal for hot chocolate)
veg peeler
stainless steel "soap"
very long cooking chopsticks
plastic spaghetti server
corn on cob skewers
muslin jelly bag
jam thermometer

and that's not all.....

Ooh I forgot about some of our gadgets:-

Electric carving knife (I use for sunday roasts)
Chocolate fountain - not used yet and it was a wedding present :o
Electric hand whisk - used for OH's angel delight mostly - just remembered it has a dough hook on so maybe will use it for bread at some point.
Food processor - used occasionally for hummous/chopping batches of onions - get fed up cleaning it :o
Slow cooker - used about once a week - pot goes in dishwasher ;)
Microwave
Kettle - it's cool touch and chrome and lights up blue :D
Electric egg boiler thing - OH uses sometimes

Coffee/espresso/cappuccino machine - used maybe once ever by OH?
George foreman - used about once every 3 months or so as I hate cleaning it - although the proper sponge cleaners do make it easier.
Sandwich maker - needs new non-stick plates.... used to use it most weeks as the kids beg for toasted ham and cheese sarnies - which is a cheap lunch too :p

I used to make cakes etc in the food processor but decided it was easier to wash up a bowl and spoon and do them by hand ;)

My last non-electric gadget I bought was a pastry blender - much less mess when rubbing fat into flour - hated using them at school though :D

Keep meaning to try out the fountain but when the kids are here OH would have a fit over the possible mess :o plus we have been on healthy eating for a year.

Hi all,

Have been to get my bloods done this morning to check thyroid function (hair dropping out, melasma, fatigue etc) so I should know fairly soon whats causing me to fall asleep in the middle of the day sitting upright. Maybe I'm just a lazy git :rotfl:

Well today and tomorrow I am having a 'use up' day as we are out alot at the weekend and my freezer is full so I need to clear out some fresh stuff!

B: 1 slice HM granary bread with butter and HM blackcurrant jam (my first ever try at jam making, think I slightly over set it but a quick wiggle about with a knife in the jar has loosened it up nicely :o )

L: Egg sandwiches (lots of eggs left over!)

D: HM Singapore chow mein with corgette, carrot and beansprout salad and satay dressing.

S: Maybe a banana if I fancy it

Have a good day all, congrats to all the losers

If anyone is thinking of buying a GoDuster - electric turning duster thingy - don't bother!

OH bought one, the batteries only last 5 minutes and it really isn't that great even with new batteries - he binned it!! ;)

It`s going to rain this pm so off to gym again! 3rd time this week-well have to get value out of membership! it might have been a park if British weather had been better! Taking Ds`s swimming-so will try and do a few lenghs.

Will also pop into supermarket next door and pick up fruit and milk- so 1 trip for petrol.

Today apart from the smell of the brownies trying to stick to my hips! I have had/will have

T Veg curry of brocoli, cauli, pots, onion and toms with rice or cous cous

I am not a veggie, but price of meat scares me, although stews are good-might be cold enough later in the week!
