  • Hi
I haven't done too well last couple of days, very weak willed. Monday had lots of sweets at work and instead of shep pie (let the lentils boil dry so had to chuck them out) had sausage and mash. Tues took DS to London for hosp check up and on way back he wanted chips so instead of just buying them for him I indulged in a portion. Then when DF came for evening chat we made mince pies and lemon curd tarts, these went down very well with coffee. Found a pkt of mixed nuts and ate these Sun - Tues and last week bought 1 Kilo of raw cashews for cooking but have eaten over half the packet a few at a time. This cannot be good. No milk for cereal this morn so after citrus salad (orange and grapefruit) had mince pie and yog. Lunch was 2 apples and portion of melon and grapes. Snack was several toffees from the sweet tin. Diner was spag bol with quorn, peppers and mushrooms. Lots of walking yesterday but none on Mon or today. I am feeling distinctly porky. Belly hurts - all those nuts. Maybe I could freeze the remaining few. Off for a long soak and early night.

  • Hello everyone

I've got a weight problem history going back for years and years, and have recently started back on a '3 meals a day, no sugar' regime which has been the only thing that has ever worked for me.

It just occurred to me today that this is actually very OS - in former days people just didn't snack all the time. I know people did make up their calorie needs with HM goodies like cakes, jams, biscuits, but they were so active that they generally needed to fill up with these things. I don't....;)

So, I'd love to post on here if that's ok? I need some support :o

I made a nice and very filling soup today:

finely chopped: quarter onion, half green pepper, quarter leek
grated: 1 carrot, 1 potato, quarter butternut squash
fried these in a drop of olive oil
a few chopped up Peppadew peppers from a jar
tin of chilli beans (ie mixed beans in a chilli sauce)
one and a half tins of chopped tomatoes
    chicken stock
    Simmer for about fifteen minutes.

If I can bear to get up even earlier than normal, I'll have time to heat some up and take it to university in my food flask. I'm normally quivering with exhaustion and hunger by the time I get home (I'm out nearly twelve hours for just four hours of lectures...). I'm not a big fan of sandwiches - but I may feel differently when my new Panny breadmaker arrives, hopefully tomorrow....

I've also cooked a barley risotto with loads of veg ready to heat and eat tomorrow night - if I don't plan ahead I'll be attacking the buttered toast as soon as I get in.

Thanks for letting me play ;)

Good morning everyone! This is my plan for todays food:

Breakfast -reduced fat egg mayonnaise on scan bran plus fruit and yogurt (free+2.5 syns+free+free)

Lunch - roasted in extra virgin olive oil (1tblsp)vegetables (butternut squash, pumpkin, onion an peppers) mixed with couscous and served on a bed of lettuce (free+heb+free+free)

Dinner - SW salmon fishcakes with SW chips and peas (heb+free+free)

    milk in coffees - hea
syns - to be decided - at the moment its a toss up between a couple of glasses of wine or a real chocolate brownie - both would be about 15 syns each so would have to have one or the other - you decide:rotfl::rotfl:! I will choose whichever gets the most votes:cool:;)

  • Good Morning
Exercise still not happening. Will try walking up and down the 3 flights of stairs at work a couple of times, just hope I'm not spotted.

Bfast:grapefruit with nat yog. just having cereal as well.
    Lunch wholemeal roll & butter
Dinner butternutsquash and rice + any veggies in fridge to be used up.
    Snack 2 apples.

Re the syns retired lady - depends on when; in the day the choc brownie has it but if you hold off till eve then it would be the wine.

    Morning all.
Not feeling great today - feel a bit :( and not in the mood for work (but lots to do).

    Anyway food:
B: potato farls with syrup and nana (yeah I'm weird but wasn't in the mood to cook low fat bacon and scrambled eggs like I'd planned).

L: jacket spud with tinned salmon and low fat salad cream

T: HM chilli wraps (lots of lentils and beans and not much mince in it anyway).

Snacks - half a tin of black cherries, probably some biscuits :o

I will more or less follow this recipe::D I still have loads more weight to lose but I try to keep my menu as varied as possible just to keep me interested. Lost 8 stone so far and at least another 8 if not more to go:eek::o

    Serves: 4
Syns per serving: Free on Original
    Preparation time: 30 minutes
    Cooking time:
    10 minutes
    ingredients

    1 butternut squash, chopped
    5 carrots (optional), chopped
Large tin of red or pink salmon, drained with skin and bones removed
    1 red chilli, finely chopped
1 bunch of spring onions, finely chopped
Salt and freshly ground black pepper,
    to taste
½ tsp Thai 7 Spice or Chinese 5 Spice
    Pinch of dried mustard powder
    1 egg, beaten
    Fry Light
    method

    1. Boil the carrots and butternut squash until tender, then drain in a colander to remove all the excess water, return to the pan and mash.
    2. Add the salmon, chilli and spring onions and combine. Add the spice and mustard powder, season to taste and mix together with the beaten egg.
    3. Divide the mixture into 8 portions and shape each one into a ball. Flatten each ball with your hands to form a ‘cake’, and store in the fridge until required.
    4. Spray a frying pan with Fry Light and fry for approximately 5 minutes on each side.
