Sian - I am using my grandma's Kenwood 701a Chef and it's my main kitchen marvel. If you are fortunate enough to be able to be gifted a NEW, MODERN one - grab it with both hands and grovel your thankfulness to your grandma!! It will save you money hand over fist. Not only does it make cakes to drool about, but bread and all yeasted items are wonderful, the slicing/chopping/grating is so handy, the liquidiser is robust and reliable ... oh, I could wax lyrical about it for ages [you'd never guess, would you *wink*??] So, from one confirmed Kenwood devotee, if you have a chance - go for it.

I'll be only too happy to chip in with my very few MS hints re the Kenwood later, if you would like.

    all the best to everyone

Hiya, can you put me down for £350 this month please. It's a 5 week month for me and i am 3 weeks in already and doing well considering we have been on holiday the last two weeks! DS at his grandmas so I've not had to feed him or buy the usual snacks/juice/ice cream etc which has been great ;)

My bulk buying is starting to pay off, i've got quite a stock now of various non-perishables which i've been buying when on special offer so have saved loads :T And i've been using my supermarket to do a list and print it off to take with me. In fact i would be lost going round a supermarket without a list now :o :rotfl:

Not had much time to keep up with thread but do have a quick read through now and then. I start a new job in a couple of weeks which should mean more free time  and less stress :j (less money aswell  ) Well you cant have it all :o

RE the kenwood chef thingy - i got a food processor for £20 in the next sale last week. I was really chuffed with it as i have wanted one for years but it didnt come with a recipe book and i dont know what to do with it now! Any recipies/ideas greatfully recieved as it is just sitting all new and shiny on my kitchen counter!

not sure how many answers you've received to this - haven't read on yet!

Sausage rolls? Remove the meat from the skins and do it that way (2 sausages make 3 long s/rolls, I find) - veggie ones usually okay to put in 'as is'

Cheese & veggie tarts - square of pastry, cut around it about a cm in, not going all the way to the bottom. Brush with milk, cook briefly then push the centre square down and top with stuff. I like mozarella & toms & basil, but it works with lots of stuff. Put back in oven briefly.

Sugared twists? Beaten egg and demerara sugar. Naughty but nice!

ps: HUGE congratulations to SFT re wedding & also to the 2 new mums!:T :T :T

Tarte Tatin? Red Onion tarte? You can freeze it (if previously not frozen and thawed)

....they only had 1 choice of the antibacterial stuff in today which was 3 times the price. I liked the stuff I was using as it didn'r make my hands sore like a lot of the cheap stuff.

Someone posted on the Home Bargains thread to say that they have very cheap handwash for children, might be worth trying if you have HB near you.

I've had to remove handwash from the downstairs loo and put the bathroom handwash on top of the cabinet as DD was using far too much, almost becoming obsessive about handwashing.

ifonlyitwaseasier, your hair looks gorgeous! You're going to look fantastic on the big day :) I'd love to have lovely long hair like yours. (I had mine cropped shortly before we got engaged and now I'm desperately trying to grow it back!)
