Right, last night went to Mr T and even though we bought a LOT of beer (it was on offer, and we've now got enough to last us 'til Christmas...), I still only spent £30.74. So, my new total is £136.59, with another week to go...

    ...£23.41 remaining. I don't think I'm going to do this :(
Continually trying the Grocery Challenge. Gotta keep trying!
  • I have got loads of HM yoghurt, can I make a sauce out of this for my lasgane? Everytime I cook with yog or put it in a curry it splits :( Any suggestions to stop this?

    Hi princess leia,

Don't know if this might help but in this recipe they stabilise the yogurt with flour and egg white http://desertcandy.blogspot.com/2007/04/mastering-labaniyya-questions-of-origin.html - if you do try it let me know how you get on as there may be a time when we have extra HM yogurt -at the moment I have to stop myself eating too much as it is so lovely!

    Morning guys

Lilac/leia, I'm worried now, my shopping from Mr T is due any minute and I've ordered 20 packets of bread mix! Hope they don't sub or I'll have to send it all back lol.

After some advice, made up bread dough last night and left to prove overnight...this morning it smells like it was made with pure vodka! Any idea if it will be edible or not, will I have a drunken toddler on my hands if she eats one?

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

Now you have posted that I did see someone on TV do it, or else they say to use full fat yog as its more stable! (I am thinking of Gordon Ramsay )
I may well try it, so will let you know!

Hope you get them all, last time I did Mr T I ordered 4 bags and they sub one with their own which is very nice but more expensive and I didn't realise till it was too late
Hope you get them all, let us know how you get on :D

Edit, I would just cook the bread it should be fine, give it a taste first before feeding to little ones but I don't think it will be bad

    Morning all,
Just a quickie as I am in agony with my back . Could not sleep with it and ended up on couch, so not to disturb DH, also every time he moved the pain shot up my back too. Have taken nurofen, sprayed deep heat on and have a heat pad on my bum but might have to go to Docs for stronger pain-killers tomorrow if its no better. Nurofen makes me even more tired though (sore back makes me tired as the pain drains me). Lets hope it returns to its usual dull ache soon instead of excruciating as it is :(. DH also gone back to work so its just me and DS and he is wondering why mummy so grumpy I think. Still I have got him in the travel cot/playpen in the lounge and will indulge him in a bit of tv for a change so he will be happy lol.
Will be a NSD as we are not going anywhere, doubt I could drive anyway . Might make a nice cake or something if I can stand in the one place long enough.
All the best for a fab time tomorrow IOIWE .
Hugs to all and may well be back on later if I can sit down!
    xx

All the best IOIWE - breathe deep, smile, and let everyone admire you!

OrkneyStar hope you feel better hun!

I am so happy, as last night made quark/soft cheese, just by leaving my yoghurt draining 1 day, rather than 1.5 hours.

I added chopped chilli, chopped garlic, paprika, salt/pepper and torn basil leaves, MrEL loved it and has added to a sandwich today (although it was heavy on the garlic!).

It was my second try at making batch #2 of yoghurt, from batch #1. It failed as yoghurt, but worked as my own soft cheese!

Anyone out there managed to make yoghurt again from the 'first' batch?

Tesco delivering later so will update siggy tomorrow...
