Have updated my sig as our September GC starts today, setting budget of £330 for my first month as this is roughly what I think we have been spending lately (which was already with meal planning etc).

Does anyone elses' month start this week or sometime soon?

I'm not very good at succinct. Why say something in 10 words when 100 will do?

I've been buying supermarket own-brand (think it was Waitrose  but it could have been sainsburys - both my nearest supermarkets). It was no different to ReadyBrek but cost about half the price!

I've been buying ASDAs ReadyOats, which to me tastes just like ReadyBrek but at £1.32 for a 750g box it's definitely cheaper! I'm not sure how cheap that is compared to Sainsburys but I do find them quite expensive sometimes.

I wasn't stocking up on it cos it was cheap, in fact until yesterday I didn't know that it wasn't always this price and by then I had already done my order. I added a couple more bags on when I found out we had guests coming.

You posted yesterday that you were going to add more after seeing someone on here say she thought it was an offer (Which it ISN'T)

I need cereal as kids eat so much, does anyone know if you can make 'ready brek' byt whizzing value oats up or is it a bit more technical than that?
    Hi again :)

DAMN about the hovis mix. I've already got 16 bags on order that's just for next month lol! Might have to add a few more! Then we'll be moving on to flour/yeast.

When I was weaning Molly I used to make various types of porridge (one was an Annabel Karmel Pear Porridge) and that was whizzed in the blender, but now she'll eat normal porridge anyway, might be worth seeing if yours will? When we start weaning Megan I'm going to try her with non-whizzed porridge and see how she goes, hoping to avoid the blender if at all possible this time.

But you've just deleted that bit out of yesterdays post. OS has quoted your original post here though.

Can i just clarify that I did quote kymbogs post, but NOT IN RELATION TO THE FLOUR DEBATE!!!! (currently I am choosing not to express an opinion on that one other than its up to people to buy what they want, when they want, and how they want, if they can pay for it!).
TBH angelnikki, I have been wanting to get the stuff cos I've heard you mention it a few times now but sadly they don't stock it in our Tesco, so I will just have to be satisfied with good old flour and yeast!

Is it not going slightly off topic and getting a bit personal now? Can we draw a line under this bit and get on with the GC in general.... enough is enough, and all that?

I don't want to get drawn into the rights/ wrongs of what anyone has/ hasn't done and why they have/ haven't done it - and I would rather not see the GC taken up by the recent posts.

Just my opinion, of course....... ;-) I don't want to offend anyone, but neither do I want to see such postings on the thread :-(

    Hi Kymbogs

My new month starts on Monday hunny..my hubby gets paid on the 25th every month so it moves about a bit..but I like it when my month starts early in a week as i try to last until the weekend before i shop -so i feel like i get off to a good start :p

I have to say that i will clear the shelf of bread flour when it comes into the NAAFI.. and i make no appologies for it... I use loads and if im organised enough to plan in advance then go get it...woohooo for me :D . We all get paid the same day..and lots live nearer to the big NAFFIs than we do (the little ones don't do it) I only go to the NAAFI on a saturday with hubby in the car...and if i can get enough flour not to be going as often then it saves us petrol money too... this last couple of weeks they haven't had an order in.. had i not got extras in previously then i would have had to buy the hovis (that im not fussed with) and thats nearly twice as much -or got the German ones that i don't get on with as well ...

GunsandBanjos.. i have just rung them thankyou :j im really happy as i got:-
    1. the standard remoska and they honoured the £79.99 -saving £10
    2. the seperator pan £16.99
    3. 6 x 500ml bottles ecover washing up liquid @ 79p instead of £1.58 -its cheaper than buying fairy out here ;)
so It should have been £116.46
I paid £98.78 as i pay 15% vat not 17.5%....savings overall -£17.74 ..ooh and free silicone utensils and still free postage as i got it sent to hubbies BFPO works number :T and hubby will transfer the money back to my UK account as its a christmas pressie -well not the washing up liquid but shhhhh :p

right better get the loaf in the oven... have a great day everyone

Just thought i had better add that i was typing whilst the last few post appeared.... so i wil keep my mush shut now :rotfl:

    I agree.
I responded to nikki's post as she had used my name/post and did want to make it clear I was not involved in the bread mix/flour debate :o.

Yeah I did say that and I edited my post after I looked back and saw that you'd posted a page or so before that it wasn't on offer, I didn't see that till just now. I edited it cos I felt bad. I said I was going to add more but I didn't until the mother-in-law rang to tell us what we needed to get for Sunday. I honestly was not trying to stop other people from buying them, buy way more than I need, or anything like that. In that same post I also said that when I get through this months bread mix I am going to start buying flour and yeast to make my bread from scratch with, which I am going to do whether the bread mix is still this price or not cos I need to get into the habit of it. I won't need to get so much in one go then as I can get flour and yeast from town when I go to top up on milk, fruit and veg etc 2 weeks after the big Mr T shop comes.

I really, TRULY had no malicious intent when I ordered the bread mixes.

I do agree with you but the thing is; people wont be able to buy what they want, when they want if other people buy more than their fair share and leave none for anyone else. (definition of more than their fair share: more than they are going to need before their next shop)

Kymbogs I'm not saying that you had malicious intent  I'm just trying to make it clear that people buying loads means other people get none.

You had originally said that you were gonna buy more than you actually needed which is what I had an issue with but if your needs went up then it is fair enough for you to buy enough to cover those needs, so if thats the case then I apologize.
