PS I got a big bag of Lidl bread mix (makes 2 loaves) for 99p- there are various types. Once I make some I will post a pic, ingredients etc, some of you might want to try it.
I am gonna to do first lot by BM and second lot by hand.

Sorry but it was the 'people like you' bit of your original message to me that really got to me. It seemed to suggest that 'people like me' are out to purposely stop others from buying stuff. But maybe I took that the wrong way. Really would like to put an end to this now, I don't quite know what I did wrong when I woke up today!:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls

Hi everyone- have done my supermarket shop for this/next week and am pleased to say I am still on target to come in under budget. I have updated my sig. We are away at the bank holiday for a few days so it was easy not to buy too much as I didn't want to leave it in the fridge/throw it away. Will have DD1 and MIL here for lunch on Sunday but will freeze the (roast beef) leftovers for another meal.
I meant to say yesterday on the porage issue that I make mine in the microwave and it is dead easy and just as quick as 'redybrek' type stuff. I use the 1 cup of oats to 2 cups liquid ratio - I use half soya milk and half water - and start with 2 mins in the mw then stir, then 1.5 mins, then 30 sec bursts until I get the texture I like. This makes enough for me and DH. My mw is 800w, so you might need to adjust the timings if yours is different. I make it in a plastic or glass jug and the washing up is easy especially if you leave it to soak first - better than having to clean a saucepan. Also I pay 89p in Sainsbury's for 1 kg oats. so it's cheaper than the 'redy' stuff too.
Denise - re the bleach for the washing - yes I use ordinary household bleach diluted in cold water. I never pay much attention to measuring it out , just give it a good old squirt! Obviously I don't do this if the item is delicate - it's best on white cotton or similar - so work shirts for example are ok. I just cover in water and leave for a bit then swish it around before putting it carefully in the wm for a rinse and spin. HTH

My new month starts on Monday hunny..my hubby gets paid on the 25th every month so it moves about a bit..but I like it when my month starts early in a week as i try to last until the weekend before i shop -so i feel like i get off to a good start
[/B]
Hey there Mrs M
My other half gets paid on the 25th too, but cos of the bank hol he gets paid tomorrow. If you think it moves around a bit for the 25th, try getting paid every 4 weeks! It's a nightmare. I used to have to change all my standing order dates every time I got paid cos the date would change every month! Now I just have them go out on my husbands payday. I got paid today, the last few months we've both been paid within 2 days of each other but then in a few months the dates will drift apart and....you get the idea!
Where abouts do you live? Is NAAFI your local supermarket?:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls

They closed our Lidl down about a year ago, it was pretty awful anyway...but they are building a huge complex on the site, supposedly 9 screen cinema, bowling alley, a hotel, restaurants and shops....should hopefully be built just in time for when my two girls are old enough to go to the cinema, bowling etc (I better start saving now!!!).:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls

Forgot to say that we are having lamb slices from the freezer for tonight's dinner (another leftover roast meal) and as I didn't want to put the oven on for one thing I have decided to try and do it in the slow cooker. I made half a pint of gravy with Bisto and then layered the meat and gravy in the cooker and left it on low. I have never done it like this before so I will let you know if it is ok. We will be having mashed potato (also defrosted from a leftover meal)which I will blitz in the mw with some butter and parsley. This was meant to be an easy meal because I was supposed to be doing the housework this afternoon but I have got sidetracked on here! (But, in my defence I did take DH to his drs appointment and cut the grass before lunch as well as going to the supermarket this morning so not exactly been sitting on my btm all day!)
Right I really am going to get the cleaning done now. Catch up later!

My hubby gets paid on the 15th, and Child Ben every 4 weeks and tax credits weekly and 4 weekly. Basically its all over the place so we transfer money to a holding account and then take a weekly budget into a separate account. This weekly plan seems to be working for us now (was monthly before as I was paid monthly and all food budget money came from that money!). Confusing it can be lol .

PS Am off to make some gingerbread muffins a la recipe from here.

Hi Kymbogs
Hubbies wages should still go in on Monday this time as its not a German bank holiday -luckily im not waiting for it..:T
we have local German supermarkets... Real, plus, aldi, lidl etc but as much as i love most german products (usually cheaper and beter than our versions) I have taken to the NAAFI for "whoopsie hunting" :rotfl: 2 litres whole fresh milk 50c-€1 depending how much they have etc... The big ones aren't within walking distance so we try and do it on a saturday if hubby is golfing near by
(tesco supply the big ones but iceland supply the smaller ones
i only found this out at the weekend whilst asking if the local one could order me in a case of tesco bread flour:rolleyes: ) -so you get different things in both ...saves wasting fuel that way..only this week we will go whilst blackberrying near by
... i now try and stay out of the supermarkets throughout the week as much as possible -it saves me a fortune :j

I'm so lucky that most places deliver to me, with not driving and having the two littl'uns, supermarkets round here are a) pretty far away and b) a nightmare!
I used to get paid 1 week then 2 weeks later get thhe CB and CTC which was fab cos it was sort of like being paid every 2 weeks...but then my work changed our paydate one month which messed all that up. That's why we started getting the shopping monthly, we used to get it every 2 weeks. At least this way I'm saving on delivery charges too:heartpulsSpoiling my two baby girls with love - it's free and it's fun!:heartpuls
