Have just purchased a breadmaker, first loaf in as we speak, OH has looked on with mild interest but I don't quite think the word excited came into it! so needed to come on here!, I think a medium loaf will be no more than 50p or less (ha that's if they work out!) I'm almost completely OS now - oh apart from regularly failing miserably on the grocery challenge LOL, well can't have it all I suppose. Made tortillas for tea last night and they were spot on gorgeous, might have to make more next time as they were all wolfed down - far nicer than bought ones and cost nothing to make as always have oil and plain flour in. Anyway good luck everyone for August (my goodness me I need it) Welcome back MRSMAC and thanks Angelnikki as always.

Well done!
I just paid, I think it was £2.28 at the Co-op for my milk.
I've ordered my Penny Pinchers guide and the How to Feed your Family A Balanced Diet ....... books.
I'm desperate for new ideas.
I got the £5 off Tescos shop to use but I'm saving it till Saturday.
Have to use the breadmaker more this month, though I did get a whoopsi loaf for 32p last week.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Hi All,
I am new to all this but have been reading the July GC Challenge and would like to have a bash at it in August if is that is ok and I am not too late?
I reckon on 250 pounds for August for two of us particularly as my OH eats enough for two on his own. :j
Cheers,

savingfortravel- hi there, well holiday was avery last minute affair, no frills so to speak but real nice. Had just over 500 saved from gc and 100 not spent from petrol budget. Added to that the rest of july gc money we scraped through. Nothing much to spend after ferry, campsite and petrol paid, but lots of stuff on campsite, pool, tennis etc. Even went to our local library and took a few paperbacks each. starting to really surprise myself. Dont know what we doing next with the money we save next yet but the dreaded christmas is always expensive and usually been half on the dreaded credit card, so maybe pay for that or telly on the blink . Not exciting , but we will see. Will let you know when i do.
Welcome to all newbies, went to mr m earlier and spent £80.19 but cupboard stocks low. update sig later,

Evening all, (oooh, I sound like a policeman
)
Well, the cupboards and freezers are definitely looking fuller, thank goodness...
Have just made Chilli Con Carne for the first time (don't do spice very well) and hubby LOOOOVED it (Link is to recipe from "How to feed your family........" book). There is a big pot left for tomorrow and load for freezing, so plan working so far (Only day 4, but even so) Had to keep adding extra chilli & cumin powder to it as he likes it hot!
I had the Cheese & Spinach Omlette for myself - yum, but VERY filling (I only made enough for one, but it was BIG  )
I'm about to work out my spend and I know it's over this week, but not worried as brought lots of stock-up stuff and it will be a NSW (No spend week) till Friday at least as have everything in to plan - Oooh, getting excited about this challenge again...

Today was the first day that I've been at home with the children since they finished last Wednesday for the summer (we've been away in our caravan this weekend).
I had forgotten how much they want to eat when they are at home all day! I had ordered my groceries from Tesco but realised that I didn't have enough enough snacks to last the week. They helped me to make the hob nobs recipe, I didn't realise how much they increased in size, my biscuits are huge!
We had homemade Dhal for dinner, the recipe that was on the Jamie Oliver meal for £5 thread, it costs pennies to make but is my DH favourite meal just now.Nevermind the dog, beware of the kids!0 -
Hi all
KAAT The offer (for £1.99) started last Thurs so I would guess it would last the week- really must get an extra freezer stocking up would be v. wise!!
Denise might give a cherry pie a go- not tried it before just need to borrow a pie dish I think
Orkney Star :bdaycake:Many happy returns- hope you had a good one
CONGRATULATIONS to new baby arrivals LilacPixie and someone else I'm sure but can't find post now- tired head
BTW slightly off topic but first day in 'big girl pants' went OK only 4 pairs- would love to not have to buy disposables for hols in 2 weeks- we shall see!
Done a big Tesco order- funny since joining in this challenge my big orders rarely hit £50 after delivery- must be doing something right
DH should be home v. shortly so will say goodnight.
