anyway the water is only 19c for 1.5litre -and i have at least 20 bottles to return -for which i will get 25c back each -so i won't technically be spending any money from my purse

Hi MrsM, do they give you back more for a bottle than you pay for it then? Wow, excellent... :D I wish they took bottles back over here (I remember the days when they used to do that.... oooh, better shut up or people will think I'm old! :rotfl: ) If they did, more people would recycle and maybe we wouldn't get them smashed outside our house!

Hey, just checking in, :) Have spent $11 today out of my $80 (NZ based, but no probs, I will just record in dollars lol, pay no attention to the currency diff if thats ok). Have fruit, vege and eggs for week now. Have been making my own bread for the last week and it is nice, but so much denser not sure my son likes it as much.

Anyone else got any ideas there? I have given him bread rolls, and he preffered the bread to those, and I have tried pizza bread which he ate okay. Might try some kind on pin wheel bread. Anything else I could do? I know I am boring giving him sandwiches everyday lol but he complains if he doesnt get one...

Today was the first day that I've been at home with the children since they finished last Wednesday for the summer (we've been away in our caravan this weekend).

I had forgotten how much they want to eat when they are at home all day! I had ordered my groceries from Tesco but realised that I didn't have enough enough snacks to last the week. They helped me to make the hob nobs recipe, I didn't realise how much they increased in size, my biscuits are huge!

We had homemade Dhal for dinner, the recipe that was on the Jamie Oliver meal for £5 thread, it costs pennies to make but is my DH favourite meal just now.

I've been searching for this dahl recipe and have failed to find it - if you got a chance could you post the link please? Need to start thinking of some new things to eat :)

I wish :rotfl: Sorry - I should have explained myself better.. The water is 19c but you pay 25c deposit on each plastic bottle... so that lot came out of last months GC... now i get to take them back and the deposits will pay for the extra water :D
I love the deposit thing -I always see it as a saving system..you will be amazed how many people still don't return them though  .. all our plastics go into clear bags and when they go out for collection there is a local guy who comes round on his bike with a big bag and if he spots any deposit paid bottles -he carefully opens the sack, takes them out and ties it up again.. i have never seen him pass here without at least 1 full bin bag :T

Hi Zoegirl... how about tortilla wraps? the recipe is on here and they are so easy and cheap..and your son might like the novelty of them too

  • Hi all,

Going to sign up for this but in two parts if I may. DH gets paid tomorrow and then I get paid two weeks later - so

    29/07/2008 - 12/08/2008 £200
    13/08/2008 - 27/08/2008 £200

I hope that I will be able to lower this but will try this for now.

Hello everyone- long time no checking in from me :o Life has been mad with people coming and going and is going to be that way for at least all of August so I will apologise in advance if I miss any major news and don't give a huge amount of support and hugs-- I am here in spirit if not in words.

Welcome to all the newbies- WARNING: this thread is addictive- should be plastered in big letters somewhere! Whenever I can't log on I fret about what I am missing!

AngelNikki- thanks for doing the thread start up and recipe list- its invaluable to me :D

MrsMc-- lovely to have you back :D Just now thinking about having chicken pasta salad for lunch tomorrow with the chicken leftovers!

Will try and catch up now! *waves* see you all later!
