It is all ifs and buts re price increases and decreases. I too am staying with ebico and will go back to os layering of clothes in the winter.
What I do see is that the price rise and then fall in the long term wholesale gas price chart has simply taken the price back to the long term line of a gently increasing gradient. What was the panic about?

I have just read that some people had not realised that capping meant that the price per unit was fixed. Why on earth didn`t people pushing capping explain that the monthly price would go up and down depending on the number of units used. Many people in our society are not able to appreciate these things and have been sucked into the hype

Well I logged into the Southern electric site hunted around, even visited the shopping bit, came up with nothing, so any redirection would be of assistance!

I find Southern Electric very helpful to deal with as well, I've even sent them a thank you email when someone was particularly helpful
Same here, I also sent a note of thanks. That is what I have been after, good customer service.

Whipped up by the media, and, unfortunately, sites like this.

    Unfortunately???

I can remember a couple of months ago Martin warned about the price rises possibly being 30 to 40% and people said it was scaremongering and wouldnt happen.

So now when BG announce a price rise of 35% there are still people that think its all scaremongering?

This sit is here to help people save money (hence the name) by making informed choices of how they spend their money. How is that unfortunate?

    Who mentioned scaremongering?
    Oh yes, it was you.
Calm down, you keep saving, noones saying you can't. Just gets a little bit sad and selfish after a bit.
Only MY opinion, which I am entitled to, as are you.
It is not only this thread to which I refer, there are loads of things that people try to scrimp and save on, thing is, it all evens itself out in the long run.
Like claiming back bank charges, very nice for the individual at the time.
Do you really think the banks wont devise another way of getting that money back?
    Just one example of many.

What was "whipped up by the media" and how was it done? Scaremongering?

    Not the same as scaremongering.
Whipped up by the media is refering to the way things like this are jumped on. Scaremongering is..... you know, your probably right, I probably did mean scaremongering.
Have you heard Martin on radio 2 ?
He sounds like some lunatic on acid, he caused websites to crash with his urgency telling all to 'DO IT NOW', then once the problems with the websites happened he decided it was ok to do it after the weekend.
He's very passionate and does some helpful things, but some are not.
You know, this switch 'cause the lights green or, don't switch yet malarky, by the time you've messed about switching back and forth we could all go out and earn more than we save.
I'm not saying I don't take some of it on board but I have more to do with my life. As you can see by my 63 posts in over 4 years.

I'm with Ebico and my supply and billing is handled by Southern Electric. On their comparison site it said I could actually save money by going with SE direct so I gave them a call to find out why the difference in price and ask whether it was worth switching to them.

The CS rep basically told me to stick with Ebico as I wouldn't get any cheaper than them even if I was to choose a capped tariff! I really applaud his honesty as he could easily have conned me into switching and then I'd be stuck with higher prices later on. I'm happy to stay with Ebico and see how it goes ;)

It appears that this isn't available to Ebico customers although technically I am also a customer of SE and use their site to deal with my gas/electric accounts :(

That's what I figured, I did think of asking them but have not as yet, did you?
