Would that be for the purposes of claiming benefit?

No. It's personal issues with a friend of mine that I didn't want him to know about. (or certain things I didn't want him to know)

I never said it was permanent.

When you use the word "Can't" it means unable, you've never qualified it before that way, the everyday interpretation is that you would permanently never work
Please can you explain, in layman & very simple terms how it is you can be OK to drive yet need help for 35 hours a week to navigate the pavements?

Partially sighted people aren't allowed to drive. I have never said I'm ok to drive - legally, I could drive if I could read roughly one more line of the smellen test, but being safe to drive is another matter..

No, that doesn't make sense to me - maybe others can interpret your cryptic answer.

Work & study aren't the same thing. It'll only be 12 hours per week, over 2.5 days..

Err... I think you're going to be in for a shock at college then. Many people work less than 16 hours a week (my OH does 9 teaching excluded pupils & school refusers) and if you do not apply yourself during those 12.5 hours and do your homework/ self study, you will not pass. I think you could easily find part -time work, if you really wanted to.

There isn't a lot the other services can do. My parents asked them about something (cooker/microwave displays) but they've said they can't do anything.

So why did you say on one of the deleted threads that the eye infrirmary said you had to have a 20" laptop if there's nothing they can do??? Or is that yet another cryptic answer where you're trying to avoid contradicting yourself again?

Smellen test is the eye test chart. Each line refers to 2 numbers. The top letters being 3/60 and the bottom numbers being 6/4. The bigger the number on the right is, the worse someone's sight is. In order to drive, someone's sight has to be 6/9, which is between the 5th & 6th line.

The safe driving bit - because of the way my eyes work, it is generally recommended to have sight better than 6/9, mainly because (I think) of the tiredness and the fact that vision of people with Nystagus varies a lot during the day.

There's nothing they can actually do to help me, but have told me I need a 20" computer/laptop.
