Morning all (just!). Feeling decidedly groggy today as minor #3 was up every 20 mins between 1.40am and 4am with a temperature - just high enough the be dreaming funny things and yelling the place down. Now well dosed on alternating calpol and nurofen and seems fine, just tired - but Mummy is a zombie. Hey ho.

At least have managed to send all the boys swimming and started cutting out the swimming tops. Hope to have them finished by next weekend, but may be hampered by Minor #1 wanting to have a go at sewing them. At 7, it's a skill he could start to learn, but not when I'm in a hurry and NOT ON THE ELECTRIC MACHINE! I shall make him do some by hand, and get the hand-cranked machine out if necessary later on. I don't know how long his enthusiasm will last.

Not too hot here today - about 21 - so a spot of gardening this afternoon (potatoes want earthing up again) and a generally lazy day.

    Hugs to all

I didn't get as much done as I'd planned yesterday as DD came over with DGS & DGD, she's really looking forward to having her own house & garden.
I spent £50 in Lidl so with the £50 I spent in the butchers a while ago should see us through for the month, I get eggs & potatoes delivered from a local farm once a fortnight £2.50 for the pots, they usually last a month & £1.50 for a doz eggs, my milk bill is £7 a fortnight. That will have to do the 3 of us for this month, fortunately we have veggies in the garden & lots of chocolate from the last day of term, if needs must I'll dip in to the savings, but I'd rather not, lets hope BIL gets some more work soon!
Glad to hear you had a good break PP, Smokey it seems everyones kids are still adjusting to being on hols.
    Have a good day

Oh that reminds me - I went to Aldi yesterday for the first time (it involved a special trip so I did the rest of the shopping at a different Mr M from the usual). Aldi was a revelation! I wish I'd had more cash on me - OH loved the bavarian smoked cheese with ham, that was a big hit, as was the tuscan-style ham :D So I'm very impressed and I'll go again. The Mr M though wasn't so great - it's not as big as the one I use normally in Erith and it feels oppressive and cramped so I just got the minimum of things and came out.

    *hugs*

    Afternoon all,

Really nice weather to-day...20 for dinner to-night (just off spring, partners and grandchildren) so thankfully we can have a bbq! DD1 and DDIL1 are buying food so not sure what we will be having, might make apple tart or some such as I have so little to do. We had 13 in the house overnight so all rooms were pretty full...we had 3 grandchildren and a dog on bed this morning about 8 am so the only option was to get up...still its lovely to have them all here, only usually happens at Christmas.

Looking forward to hearing from Shez sometime to-day that she has arrived safely...may even manage to meet for a coffee if they have time.

Just going to take things easy as the weather is so nice...only problem is that garden has to be watered...did about 20 mins this morning, will break the rest into 2X 20 mins sometime during the afternoon, don't like to be too hard on water pump at one time.

    Have a lovely day all

We have just had a lovely new big Aldi opened in my closest shopping centre. I went there yesterday armed with the book that tells you what's good and whtas not,v.impressed so far. Also treated myself to some of the Siana day moisturiser-they have never had it in stock at the Aldi I used to occasionally got to about 5 miles away.
I have done guite well this month but don't know about reducing my monthly budget as I usually fond it costs a lot more to have the kids at home-they usually get free school meals but moan if they only get a sandwich in the summer! I think I am going to dust off my george forman grill as they loved that last summer (thank goodness I put it away clean-I know I am gross but I have been known to forget and to put things away dirty!)
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!
  • Hello everybody :hello: and hugs to those in need.

Well today the first of my winter wardrobe off e-bay arrived - lovely dress and a pair of green clarks shoes - bit tight even thought they do say 5 but out will come the old socks and they will soon be moulded to perfection! Total spend about a tenner for a pair of Clarks shoes and a dress from Next. (before anyone goes "ew second hand shoes" the tip is to buy ones where you can still see the logo of whatever company sold them as they rub off after about 6 wears.) Today I will be looking for other stuff for the e-bay listing (I want to have a regular 50 items on at least). Mr Rage is off doing his wedding driving - he has cut back this year as last year we never saw each other and his house jobs began to pile up. So that will be £35 into Mr Rage's piggy. Been into SUNNY Urmston this morning and 'round the market - popped into the pet shop to see Don the white parrot and tried to use emotional blackmail on Mr Rage about getting another budgie - there's cute little grey one who I have called George and I said "Oh look there's George" at which he came over to me :D however, didn't work  . Market shopping and cooked meats done. I've found a couple of giant onion bhajis and veg samosas in the freezer - am pondering those with salad for dinner. I have some curry mint in the garden and some cucumber and yoghurt for riaita. Apart from that I intend to watch Hercule this p.m. and finish my Celtic Summer cross stitch - I am chomping at the bit to get ont Celtic Autumn. I have looked at the gas thing - we're already on the cheapest tarrif but I am considering candles instead of the bedside lamps for reading! I've also today put all the bits of soap as the bar was breaking up into a little tub with some water in. :money: When it all breaks down it will make either really good handwashing stuff or I'll put it at the side of the sink in the kitchen to wash hands with. Dug out one of my huge bars that I have left from my supply cupboard - they cost £5 each from a french farmer's market but they are huge - imagine two tennis balls welded together and one lasts about 6-8 months! I think I'm using primrose but TBQH I've forgotten what fragrances I bought!! I think the people nest door might not have their teenagers home as it's been blissfully quiet all week...... result :D
But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Stay out of Camberwick Green :D

  • Afternoon Guys!

    Feeling a little brighter now:D

OH & DD are out in the garden cutting grass and weeding....with loads of suncream on and they are washing the car too after. We had a lovely lunch of Tuna/Mayo and cucumber wholemeal sarnies with crisps and fruit. Sat out in the garden to eat it and was beautiful with the parasol up.

2 washloads done and dried. So much ironing this week...glad I dont do it:o

Sorted through some clothes this morning that no longer fit but have put them to one side for the time being.

Hope everyone is having a nice day.

    Hi
I've just popped back to thank Dinky, who is a lurker on this board, for sending me a copy of 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' I listed 100 books on my blog, some I'd read & some I hadn't. I pinched the list from Viv, who pinched it from someone else. Dinky kindly send me the book & it arrived this morning all the way from Belfast.
